Yay, Virgin Islands! is the pics email your email so I don't use this board to talk to you? Have a great time!- I liked the kiln in your shop, except for it's ALL brick... Pro's and con's to top loaders. Like for combing I prefer my front loader. Hey you ( meaning your biz/rep) should do something i...

Hi Gale, My 2 cents: I have used HD board, and layered 8 sheets of glass, also used it for stacking 2-3 inch tall strips on edge and casting. I use drywall screws to hold the board in place. The best way I've found to prevent flashing on top edges is to not put the mold edges directly in contact wit...

Hi, I have only done sand casting in molds, with a crucible drip. I'd like to try doing hot pours from the crucible. We had used an acetalyne torch to prep the sand- I am intrigued by the notion that you can sift bentonite or kaolin instead. (I don't have a torch, besides a hand held Mapp). Can you ...

Id go much slower on cool down. can you do a Strain Point test on your glass to get the propper annealing temp? I've worked with annealing mottled glass that I was told had various annealing temps, so I held at different ranges- so, you could soak fro 4 hours at 1000, then go SLOW to 930 and soak 4 ...

Just thought I'd follow up on this- I ended up buying the Flex- Granite City recommended it over the Alpha, and the Felisatti. (Plus the weight was a concern for me.) I checked Suhner, but quite pricey for my needs. I've given the flex a test run, but don't like the pads I got from GC, waiting impat...

I guess Brock Knows best... but since i just switched to using Bullseye's pink kiln wash, maybe there is a diff. depending on the brand you use? BU says to paint the wash on in various directions (making it about 5 coats-across, up and down, diagonally, etc) then take full speed up to 500 degrees an...

diamond angle grinders
Hi, I searched the archives for this, but the most recent post I could find was two years old. I need an angle grinder/polisher and am wondering if people are still thinking Felisatti and Alpha are best? Has anyone tried the Flex? (Only 4.5 lbs) Actually, which is best? I was checking pneumatic too,...

Hi, Maybe it can be saved- depends how the pin is fused in. I just tried my first combing about a week ago, and didn't go fast enough on my first pull, so I hit the roof of my kiln and brick fell into the glass and fused in. I loved the piece, but had to get the chunks of brick out- so I used small ...

Is This discussion really from 2003 and not 2004?? If so, I'm sure you already figured it out- but it's been so long that I've seen you Cheryl, thought I'd jump in and say hey! I got a Caldera for the express purpose of being able to do pick-ups from my glory hole, but when Kevin showed me his set u...
