Getting a fire polish without slumping
Hi, all, here's a finicky question: I have small pieces of glass, diamond-shaped, standing up vertically in the kiln. They are held by slots in a mold that comes up to half their height. So half of their height is standing up vertically without anything to lean on. I want it this way so I can nicely...

Recommendations for/against kiln dealers?
Hi, I am going to buy a Skutt GM814 18" kiln, and my question is, who should I buy it from? I am seeing prices ranging from $810 to $940. Cline Glass has it at $810, Georgies at $914, crloo.com at about $940, allstainedglass.com at $890. That's the price without furniture included. Any recommen...

Paragon Fusion8 vs. Skutt GM814 kiln opinions?
Hi, I'm looking at these two kilns, and would be interested in people's opinions about them, or about other comparable kilns?

Bill Brach, what make and model of saw are you using your Lopacki blades in? I'm concerned to get a saw that is sufficiently vibration-free...

Kiln for fire polishing lots of small pieces?
I'm getting ready to go into production on some ornaments that use a lot of 1-inch long diamond-shaped pieces, all of which need to be fire polished. I have a Quickfire 6 which obviously doesn't hold enough, although it's nice and fast. Can anyone recommend a good kiln in, say, the 20" diameter...

Speed of drilling
Hi, I'm looking to do production of some ornaments where I need to drill a hole in each ornament for the hanging hook. I just tried out a 1/16" diamond drill using my Dremel, and I felt it took longer than I expected to drill through a 1/8" piece of glass, about a minute it seemed. Should ...

Diamond Tech XL 3000 band saw - blade deviates
Hello, band saw experts. I'm making a lot of straight cuts on my saw, using a fence, and the blade is deviating too much for my taste. The things I can think of to try are: - change the blade, it may be somewhat worn out. - push the glass through slowly, don't exceed the cutting speed of the saw. - ...

Hot spot in Quickfire 6 kiln
Hi again,
I notice my Quickfire kiln is significantly hotter in one corner. What causes this? Is there any way to even out the heat so I can use the whole shelf area?
Thanks
David
