Thanks so much for all the great info. I have to go back and read my charts for firing. I must be reading them wrong.

Another bowl bites the dust!
Wonder what I am doing wrong. I was trying to slump a single layer 2 to 3mm peice of Bullseye Confetti glass. This has not been tested for compatibility but I have fused it and slumped it in the past. This has happened to me a 3 times, with different glass but always the same mold and always the sam...

Being in business for oneself
I am in the process of setting up my business primarly in fused glass jewelry but plan to continue in stained glass as well as mosaic glass functional items. Just wonder how many of you out there do this full-time or part-time. I'm also looking for any advice before starting this venture. I plan to ...

Glass slipping in mold
I have a very small mold (about 4 inches across) with fluted edges. I have tried 4 different times, with different glass, to slump it and each time one side shrinks down into the mold making it lopsided. This last time I checked it at about 1110 and it was just starting to slump. I checked again at ...

Thank you for your info. I will check the archives. I thought you were supposed to add all of those formulas into your price such as cost, wear and tear on your equipment, your hourly salary and your profit. I like the idea of trying to figure that out of the course of a year. It makes much more sen...

Depreciation Values
Trying to come up with the best formula for figuring in depreciation values, utility use, etc. into the price of my work. Let's say it costs $4.00 in supplies to make one necklace, do I just double that when figuring it was fired twice, and the wear and tear on the kiln, grinder, etc. Any help would...

crisp edge on jewelry
I have been trying to get a specific look to my dichroic jewelry. I really love the pieces that have very straight crisp lines along the sides and look as if they were cut with a saw (which they probably were-but I don't have one :D ). Can you obtain this look by grinding after the first fire and th...

Sole Proprieter
Just in the start up stages of my art glass business. I want to make sure that I start off right and legally. I want to get feedback from other artists who are running a business as a Sole Proprieter. It sounds like it is the easiest way to get started but I am concerned that if for some reason I ge...

I always thought you were supposed to flash vent to stop the process of fusing. Thanks! My understanding of annealing is it's the process of letting the glass cool slowly and evenly for a period of time at a controlled temperature? This portion of fusing does somewhat confuse me. Should I have annea...
