Hi Barbara, I would check on the following: 1. What type of product lines did she represent before? What type of businesses did she have as clients? What experience does she have marketing your type of work? 2. Is there is any overlap with products and any possible conflict of interest 3. References...

Susan and Kitty, I commend you both for pursuing patents for your techniques and work. I once worked for the federal court system and sat through some copyright and patent cases in litigation. It is true that it is up to the holder of the patent to ensure others within our country are following the ...

After migrating from Hawaii to California, I'm happy to say I'm now in southern washington. I'm in Vancouver, WA (I call it a suburb of Portland but don't know if I am offending anyone yet-so I apologize in advance). We love our new home and 900 sq ft shop. We are in a tiny development near much lar...

One good source of jewelry cards, etc I have found is: http://www.fetpak.com/
For a fraction of the cost you'll get some really nice looking hang tags.
Good luck!

Sorry for the digression folks, but I found out a nice little secret when taking the findings, etc off a glued piece- put it over a mild heat- candle flame for a few seconds. Usually the findings will pop right off. Don't hold it over the candle too long- just a few seconds. If you hold it longer, i...

Duh, forgot to mention prepping the surface. Els, you make a great point and surface prep made a HUGE difference with how the E6000 held up for us. We did it without prepping it :( and then prepping it correctly :) . Roughing up the edge and then cleaning it is so important. Kitty, I'm a little conc...

Hi Randy, We use it all the time. We tried many others and by far the E6000 is the strongest- we do our own tests by really pulling it off and it doesn't budge at all. The trick is to let it dry for about a day. We haven't noticed any smell once they are completely dry. If you make the hole large en...

Wow, all of this is great information and very helpful in trying to set this up right. Thank you! I took some time to really look at the sconce and I swear it has to be kiln formed. The bubbles aren't stretched at all; one edge is very nicely finished. The other edge- well, there is a type of lip th...

Hi Bert, Thanks for your quick response! Good suggestion about getting Bullseye to maybe create something very seedy for us. We were thinking a two pronged approached might happen here. We do have a friend who owns a hot shop and she's always bugging us to get there to do some hot glass so this migh...

As to getting fraudulent cards, I always get the person's mailing address and phone number. I'm finding more and more companies are checking photo ids anyway and the customers who use a credit card are always happy to give me more information. Of course, if you always mention you are just being care...

Ok, here's a new twist (for me anyway). :-k I am working with a new client with a multi-faceted job. One part of the job is to possibly recreate a wall sconce she bought in Murano. There of course, will be some experimentation on my end to capture the colors and the thousands of bubbles to match a s...

Brock, I'm curious how the gallery owners received your information. How did you go about telling them the craftsmanship was bad? It might help me in sharing the same with some galleries/shops I wholesale/consign to. Now mind you, I wouldn't ever comment on design as it speaks for itself and god kno...

I agree with Dani. I just don't trust leaving the kilns on when I'm not here. I've heard too many stories and ruined projects from folks who left their kilns alone- only to find out studios caught fire, projects destroyed. #-o I would not take the chance of possible fires let alone an important proj...

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I only do about 3-4 shows a year- mostly art fairs. I've gotten a few commissions from doing them and several retail accounts which keep me busy. One thing I consider whenever I do shows is that the amount of time getting things together, set ...
