Re: DP 100 PLUS
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I did not roughen up the surfaces before applying and they passes the 20 lb. test. Afterwards, I wondered myself if it would be better to roughen the surfaces and will probably do that but make sure the area's are cleaned of any dust left behind. Next issue me...

DP 100 PLUS
Hi guys. Been a long time since I checked in. Wanted to share with you an adhesive that appears to have solved a lot of problems for me. DP 100 PLUS by 3M. It HAS to be PLUS. They make a DP 100 but it is not the one. I used it to adhere 1" standoffs to glass to hold texture glass panels used as...

Re: adhesive tape
Thanks Don and Brad. I checked the link for 3M 4646 acrylic foam tape and then checked it out with 3M. 3m site said it couldn't be found to I called 3M and got to speak to a real live person who was most helpful. After getting all the info I could provide they were a little hesitant about the streng...

adhesive tape
I am trying to recall the name of the tape used to adhere glass to metal or metal to glass. I have been asked to apply a 3/4" length standoff to a glass window. I'm thinking the glass must be tempered because I was told it could not be drilled. The standoff, well four located in the corners, wi...

Re: How to figue a price for a significant sculpture
Thank you all for the input. Great advice. I would "enjoy" making a huge profit but I realize I must live in the real world. I do want to be part of the community art project but I also want the exposure this will bring me. It would thrill me to be able to create more metal/glass sculpture...

Re: How to figue a price for a significant sculpture
I think I need to add that the person interested in this project is building the new convention hotel associated with a city multimillion dollar riverfront development and wants to get as much local art represented there as possible, which is fantastic because we do have some really good artists her...

How to figue a price for a significant sculpture
Sorry I'm so needy. Once again I'm turning to this board because of the vast experience and knowledge of the participants and the willingness to share. What a godsend you all are. I am down to price figuring on my outdoor sculpture of 5 flowers ranging 10' to 8' in height. Glass head rondels 22"...

Re: outdoor sculpture
Thank you all so much. I think I'm gona be fine. No place for water to collect and freeze in the glass disc to cause problems, thanks Cynthia that was great advice. If I was doing concrete I would have thought of that but probably never would have considered it for glass. Will remember that for futu...

outdoor sculpture
As you may have surmised by my disjointed questions, I am trying to convert an idea to reality but keep having insecurities creep into my psyche. Latest one, is there any contradiction to using bullseye glass in an outdoor setting long term. It gets cold, sometimes icy, sometimes hot, sometimes hot ...

OMG. Accidentally posted my question twice. Tried to delete one of them and poof they were both gone. Let me try again. I am still in the design stage of a long ongoing desire to great an outdoor sculptural flower garden arrangement. The heads of the flowers are a 22" glass disk mounted on a st...

Fusing on kiln floor
Ok here goes. I have a coffin kiln with inside wall to wall distance of 25". My piece is 24" and my kiln shelf is 21 or 22". I was thinking of firing on Sand or plaster. The distance of the floor from the first coil is an inch Or so. Is that enough thickness of material i end up using...

I will design all components of the piece but will need help cutting some of the design elements and welding the pieces together. flower garden
Judy, Your flower garden does look like fun. I tried the fusing in a lead pipe and it came out well but there are some grayish spots in the glass. I don't know if it is some lead filings that I didn't get out with my magnets when I made frit or if it was stuff that flaked off the sides of the pipe. ...

matte finish
Brock, Thanks for the reply. What I was looking for is a matte finish on both sides. So if I read you correctly, I can probably get the desired effects by sandblasting, then slumping. The slump temp wouldn't be hot enough to fire polish so I should still have the matte finish on top too, right? Ann

matte finish?
Quick question here. If I sandblast both sides of a blank, then fire to a higher temp than slump will the shelf side get the desired results or should I fire then flip? If I fire and then flip what happens to the prefired now shelf side? Thanks Ann

is tack fuse enough
I ran a tack fuse of some uroboros glass on Spec and BE. Temp got to 1425 with a short hold. Is that enough to determine compatability. The Uroboros glass was not listed as fusible but it wad the MOST GORGEOUS glass I have seen in awhile and would love to use it in a fuse. So far the results show co...

I tried this earlier and since I am a computer flunkie it went nowhere. So here it goes again. I have made three 6' tiles and want to ,ount them on a sheet of steel. I wanted to mount them on a grid but couldn't find one that the "weave" wans't too large. Anyway, I spotted some shelving at...
