thanks for the info Ron. i don't have a clue what you mean by 'water based media' ?? The media, or medium is what you mix the dry Pqaradise paints with to use them. Many mediums are available, both water based and oil based. Most oil based materials are made with pine oil and the smell is overpower...

The emlusion will last for many screenings. Even a water based emulsion used with water based media will last a long time if you let the emulsion rest and dry out. Water based media can be used with paradise paints and the cleanup is simple, just wash it off in the sink. I did some screening yesterd...

Do either of you have the bifocal Aura lenses? I was thinking they might be helpful- I have the 9302 Large Economy frames that just fit over regular eye glasses. For occasional use they work fine, but custon fit frames would be better for extended use. See the second frames on the attached link. ht...

Now once you have the pattern bar, the next challange is how to cut the sucker up. No diamond wet saws in the days of the Romans. I would imagine they used some type of Armstrong saw and grit with water. Sounds like a good job for an apprentice.

Re: ebony and ivory

I was talking to a wood turner and was told that wood from a holly tree is very very much like ivory in appearance, white with little grain. I agree with Tony, inlaid in ebony a white accent would be awsome and work well with wood. Ann Yes, holly is a very white wood without much grain, also very d...

Yes the ebony works with glass, must be the lack of contrasting colors and grain that does it. Just a nice uniform black.

I'm not siure what BE glass the green is, but it looks like the edges turned frosty from sawing and didn't gloss up during fusing. Did you cut the green piece on a ring saw? They tend to give a very rough finish and may cause devit on some glass. Edge cleaning may also be an issue. The sawn edge mus...

I think they work well with the glass Amy. There is something about metal and glass that just fit together. There has to be a balance of volume, but the two go with each other in my mind. Stone and glass also work. The material I have problems with is my favorite, WOOD. For some reason in my mind it...

I've been following your new pieces on your web site for a while. Nice work.

Just curious if you are doing your own mounting for each piece? Hard to tell what they are made of, steel and brazed?

The process Wallace talks about, http://www.warmglass.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3326&highlight= is specific to the toner in a Xerox machine or laser jet printer and won't work with an inkjet printer image. The black xerographic toners contain carbon black and iron oxide which makes up the image ...

Paul I think the secret to firing against a fiber paper dam or kiln washed dam, is to keep the top layers of glass away from the dam by cutting them undersize. You want the glass to flow up to the dam material and not try to slide down as it melts. You could get the same effect by cutting them all s...
