Re: Background for images.
Thanks, I'll be steering clear of using white. Only have to complete polishing here and there and I'll give it a go. Have a few days up my sleeve to work it out. I've looked at many images of glass and like how the graduation starts light at the bottom and very dark at background but will look at mo...

Background for images.
001.JPG Trying to get serious about photography again, have borrowed a camera because the last one I bought for this purpose is outdated since slides are no longer required. This image is a tester for smaller work but am undecided how I should set up for a wider piece which has a lot of white at th...

Nice look you had going on there with the stringer. Would loved to have seen your face when it let go. If you keep pushing the boundaries with your work you'll get similar days. This site is where you'll build a strong foundation to work from. peace, haydo

Re: Bubble blocks, last of ther all sorts!!
Could hardly believe the first comment, but now I understand. Actually the first image in this post has been shaped in a roundish fashion and polished, for jewellery box once I make a cast float glass lid to finish it off. peace, haydo

Re: Bubble blocks, last of ther all sorts!!
Nah! Jen, like to be vague so I don't get held to account for my actions. The first taller block I'm doing has many more layers of colour so I have sort of returned to the idea of the All Sort minus the licorice. peace, haydo

Re: Stacking kilns for taller blocks.
I'm looking forward to posting pics at some stage, still faceting and polishing the ones for piece and the one's that didn't make the grade. Planning to make the bigger blocks not so complicated with trying to meet all the corners. After this month I'll be hanging out to get back to Nauru to help th...

Stacking kilns for taller blocks.
Piece is still ramping down to anneal at the moment, guess I'll find out in three days if I've bitten off more than I can chew. peace, haydo

Re: Bubble blocks, last of ther all sorts!!
Thank you. Just waiting for third attempt with a block just using whites and clear, then it's onto stacking two caldera's for taller blocks to complete the project. Have made a few now, and am looking forward to seeing how a layer of pattern will look after distortion with a bubble. peace, haydo

Re: Who am I?
Super Tramp, that took me back to a time when I left school to become logical. To find myself a place among all the cogs that drives the economy, a diesel fitter in the coal mining industry was equal to ka ching, but it has never sat right with me which is why I bailed out in 2002 to give our boys d...

Re: Behind the technique.
No chance of giving up, if I could it would have been years ago. I had the site developed by my son before a solo exhibition at Mackay's Harley dealership, I thought it looked great as with others. But wasn't enough to launch me into the North Queensland market, even though we made the Sunday Mail's...

Re: Behind the technique.
Yeah!, the images are lame. I suppose I could reconsider the idea of having a blog. Or I could carry on with the idea and see where it goes, always aware that it may go pear shaped. peace , haydo

Re: Behind the technique.
We hadn't worried about the images yet because it was on the to do list before the end of June. The whole site needs a tidy up so that's it ready and the tip of dealing with too much text is something that I'll be able to ponder while still on the island. Make it more KISS, if they want words then it...

Behind the technique.
Have bitten the bullet. On Nauru at the moment filling in time for things relating to a work that I need finished on my next break. When it comes down to it every business needs recognition. Where I come from, the market has helped to push me to be better, smarter will have to come later when I can g...

Re: Suicide, along with all other hot topics.
Thanks all for your concern. I ran into the father who was flown back to Australia. Total mess as can be expected. The only positive from it all is that it has given me more incentive to get my latest project finished on time. The father is like a pied piper to children in Nauru who go swimming at t...

Suicide, along with all other hot topics.
I'm almost compelled to self destruction by leaning this way. At the moment I'm working on a piece dealing with mental illness well before this. A young man who I've worked with in Nauru has ended his time with us in flesh. Changed the wording previously used when a stack of books decided to go bell...

Who am I?
Feel that I'm at a turning point. I'm away from my studio that is just waiting to be cranked up again during my breaks from Nauru. So in the meantime away from work distractions I try and connect with nature by spending time with the many fish here then to feel the end of another day. Favourite past...

Re: Bubbles!
Do you want just the bumps to go away as it is opaque?, or do you want to rid the piece of bubbles? Laurie's tip to flip and fire is a good one to get it flat but you'll need to take care not to introduce contaminates into open craters if there are any. I'd do it on ceramic fibre that has been prefi...
