Thanks!
I know it has been said before and I just want to say it again. The people on this board are the most helpful/wonderful people I have ever met. Don't like to use the word wonderful since I am a guy! : ) but, it is the only thing I can think of that describes the generosity and help people show to on...

Paragon Kiln help and question on 3 key controller
I just sold my Paragon Fusion 10 kiln with a 3 key digital controller. It was bought new in December. I fired it only 3-4 times and did not have any trouble. The person I sold it too got it home and said when he plugs it in it comes on but when he runs through the program and hits start nothing happ...

I forgot!
You know what? I forgot all about the tin side. I am all used to bullseye and forgot about the tin side of float. I am usually only sandblasting it not sluping. I will try again with tin side down. I will also slow try and slump at a little lower temp.
Thanks for the info fellas!

Float Slump feels like sandpaper on the bottom (HELP!)
Last night I slumped a piece of float into a 16" steel wok. The slump went fine but, when I picked up the glass there is a rough feeling on the bottom of it almost like sand. It is not smooth at all. I used the kiln was that comes with Paragon kilns and brushed it on a hot wok. I also sandblast...

LOL
Oh, that was funny Brock. I would like to see that in a cookbook. Take the wok up to 1325 F. slump your glass and then throw in the Peking Duck and mix gingerly. Too funny.

Optically Clear glass
Anyone know where to obtain optically clear glass? I am looking for something 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in thickness. Almost like float but no tent. I know PPG makes Starphire but, have found no good source. Not sure if anyone else makes it or not. I see it all the time as dividers in resteraunts. Any he...

Brock, I personally saw nothing wrong with your response. Vicki obviously saw nothing wrong with it either or she would have said something. I appreciate all the posts and answers you give on this board. You are a wealth or knowledge and I look forward to reading your posts on a regular basis. Keep ...

Brocks Irid to Irid Technique
I was wondering if someone might explain a little about how to do the clear and black irid techinque that Brock has taught some people. I searched the archives and found one of Ron Colemans pieces done that way but wanted to see if someone could shed a little more light on this? Maybe I will get luc...

Shot in the dark
Randy, I am going to take a shot in the dark but, my guess is you hit the nail on the head by stating the cracks tend to happen between the white and another color. I know that white and black can cause problems when put together because black is such a soft glass and white is harder. Not to mention...

Tyler, There are a lots of posts in the archives regarding mica's. I think 20 coats maybe to much but, whatever it takes to get a good even coating. Usually I have done 6 coats. I use Isopropyl alchohol to mix my powders. The I fire to around 1375 for about 10 minutes or so. Mica's show up best on d...

Hi! I will let someone else answer the question about food safe paints but, for the pearl-ex powders you can use almost any airbrush. I believe Avery Anderson recommends the Aztek. I use a Pasche. You can get one that is for general airbrushing. I am not sure of models right now but they make some t...

Looking for rubber mask
Does anyone know of a rubber mask that you can put over glass and maybe stretch tight? I know there is 3M buttercut but, I have never used it. I saw a film of a glass blower that would blow a piece of glass and then stretch this rubbery material over the glass and then cut out a sandblast pattern. H...

You could sandblast it off if you have a sandblaster and refire using paper that is cut close to the edge of the glass. I used to have that happen and I had to start cutting closer. The paper does shrink a little so be careful. You could also try just using kiln wash instead. Your glass will be smoo...
