how is the best way to hang a fused piece of glass o the wall

I need a way to display some of my fused glass pieces to the wall. I can't figure out what is the best way to attach a hanger to the back of the glass piece.

crinklized cbs glass

I have been unable to get an answer from the CBS company regarding firing this glass in the kiln. I wanted to know if it needs to be capped with a clear glass or can it be fired without. Are there any problems with firing this glass as there is with dichroic (one side up or down) . It's too expensiv...

Re: copper between layers of glass

The bowl slumped OK and it appears that the mesh didn't shrink. I had a couple problems with the slumping, a tiny piece of the mesh popped through the top layer of glass. Also on the edge, the mesh kept the glass from completely sealing in one spot. Linda

BE clear with broken black stringers

I recently bought a couple sheets of BE 4400 clear with broken black stringers. How would you cap this with clear and not have lots of bubbles as the surface is pretty rough with stacks of stringers. Thanks Linda

hole in pot melt

Some time ago, someone told what they used to keep the verticle pieces of glass from falling through the hole in the pot. I have searched the archives and have been unable to find that one particular post. Can anyone tell me what they did? Thanks Linda

I always use a spray bottle with plain water to spray down the shelf. Then use a wide putty knife to scrape off the old kiln wash. This eliminates the need for a respirator as there's no dust this way. Linda

compatible glasses

I needed some brownish colored cabs for pendants. I didn't have any BE so used an unknown mfg piece of glass over BEdichroic--CBS. I made small pieces (maybe 2" x 4") and after fusing cut them into small cabs and refired to fire polish. My question, will uncompatible glasses cause cracking...

small bubbles revisited

I can't seem to get most glass to fuse perfectly flat. I just made three panels 18 x 6 inches using this schedule: 450 to 1200, soak l hour, 600 to 1475 hold 5 mins, 9999 to 950 hold 30 mins 450 to 850 hold 30 mins. All came out with small "zit" type bubbles. What does it take to get a com...

cbs frit

I recently bought 7 tubes of this frit hoping that I could do a project that I had in mind. I've had lots of problems with it even though I patiently turned each piece so that the majority of the dichro was on the bottom. It balled up (dichro on dichro I guess) and I haven't been able to do anything...

There's a product made especially for this called "mark stay" I use that but lst use a Pilot metallic pen. The two used together (make sure the pen line is completely dry before smearing on the "mark stay") usually stays on during the cutting process. I have a Gryphon saw. Linda

I was having problems with black spots on some BE glass. I sent them a sample to help me solve the problem. They said that it was caused by silver. I had never fired silver in my kiln but do metalworking adjacent to the kiln. I never did figure out how the metal got onto the glass but I don't think ...

folding glass on face

I've had problems with the glass folding somewhere between the chin and ear. Everything went OK except for the fold of glass. Would the kiln furniture prevent that from happening as I just balanced the glass on the nose. Thanks Linda

Can Spray A be diluted with water. The bottom of my bottle seems a little too thick but I was afraid to put water in it without knowing if it would be OK Thanks Linda

I forgot to mention in my previous reply that you need to use nothing but glass that is compatible. Don't mix dichroic and float glass together as they aren't compatible. Linda

If fusing dichroic to clear you will need multiple layers in order to get much color. I usually cut small pieces and with a small amt of Elmer's glue, I put it on the base glass. I then continue stacking small pieces on top of each other until I have at least 3-5 layers of dichroic. You can also use...

yes, it was the float that didn't slump enough. How high do you usually have to go to get float to slump into a small mold? Thanks Linda

slumping temp for float glass

I tried to slump a very small bowl yesterday along with a couple more molds that I was using to slump. The other two completed their slumping (one with BE clear and the other float) but the small bowl never did hit the bottom of the mold. I started at 1250 and continued rising the temp in small incr...

2 questions, #1 about Spray A #2 problems with kiln shelf

#1 I was working with BE 0137 French Vanilla and used Spray A on it. It turned a ugly yellow color. I know that this particular glass causes problems with interactions to other glasses. I'm assuming that this is the reason I had the problem. #2 I have a kiln shelf that has one area that won't accept...

glass wafer problems

I am trying to work with the powdered wafers. I made the wafers 1 1/2 inches long and when they are fired onto two layers of glass, they shrink to 1 inch and the edges are not flat but curled up. My firing schedule for the firing onto glass was 450 dph to 1200, held 20 mins, 600 dph to 1500, held 20...
