Tile Saws..
How useful would it be to buy one of the many cheaper tile saws instead of a Taurus. (for now I mean) The tile saws are offered at Home Depot for about $80.00 whereas the Tauraus would be considerably more. Eventually I will buy the Taurus, but right now I've laid out a ton of money in other things,...

Dumb question....
I've been experimenting with dichro in making bracelets. I just received a full sheet of DT2 pattern on Bullseye Thin Black glass from CBS. Now for the dumb question:
When fired, will the obvious pattern diffuse? ie: will the dots blend out?

question for this paragraph is this...exactly HOW do you precisely size the piece of glass to perfectly fit the mold that you are using...do you cut the glass slightly larger than the edges of the mold or do you cut it precisely to size... For my purposes, I've taken some plain brown paper and smoo...

Well Barbara, what I really found stupid was, the bracelet she was wearing was nothing more than dichroic strips placed on a wide band. The strips that one can buy pre-cut at the studio we were taking the class at. One of the other girls in the class and I just *looked* at one another, our smiles tr...

sooo funny! This whole thread I mean. I just finished a show where I sold..*drum roll* ONE piece. And THAT was cold flat work. *sigh* I had many people complimenting, but no one buying. (NEVER do a 4th of July show where they have a parade. It's too soon after they've paid the mortgage and their bil...

You might also want to check out Pacific Art Glass in Gardena if you're looking for supplies and neat little dichroic shapes. They sell stuff that's water jet cut for inclusion in your projects. I just got a few of the neatest little dichroic dragonflies for my bracelet work. He also has the best pr...

Oh my! Of course! She said that they are really very simple. I'll quote: "Believe it or not, the oven fresh are stacked up 8 to 12 layers deep, full fused and minipulated in the kiln (with barbeque tools) while at the full temp. Mother nature does the rest. Really, that's all there is. Another ...

Bubbles in glass
On my piece that had the large bubbles, I drilled out the top of them, smashed up some of the same glass and filled the holes up. Did a re-fire and you'd never know I ever had bubbles!

I found this thread interesting as I just fused two large circles with various pieces between them. I used Marty's schedule of ramping up to 1350 at 300dph. I ended up with a lot of large bubbles, *very* unattractive. I called the local WG shop and was advised to ramp up much faster because I was ho...

PJ and her amazing glass
I emailed PJ and asked her about the process. She was indeed as kind and generous with her knowledge as you all said she'd be. Thanks for your input everyone. Goes to show what I always tell my hubby, warm glass people *are* warmer than cold. Must be all that time bending over hot kilns........

Pot melt support
How does one cut the kiln shelves into those strips? And is there anything else I could use to support the pot?

Am I wrecking my shelves?
When I clean off my shelves I do it with sandpaper and water. I run the hose over them as I sand.
Am I ruining the shelves by getting them so wet?
I usually dry them off in the kiln at about 500 degrees for 30 min. and then leave them overnight to prep the next day. Is any of this harmful to them?

Can I fix it?
I took some fused vases to my last show and while we were packing up one got banged against something and got a little tiny crack along the edge. Can I mend that in any way?
