Silver Foil
I've searched but am unable to find any information on using silver foil on the top layer of glass. Is it food safe or should I be sandwiching it in between two sheets. Thanks for any help.

Re: MR97 problems HELP
Thanks Valerie and Dick I'm pretty sure I used too much of the spray. I'll have to find someone that can sandblast for me. I hated it so much I gave my son my air compressor.

MR97 problems HELP
Ok - so I just bought a new kiln and I'm still learning the ins and outs. I also bought a new texture mold, the 12" Tree of Life. I sprayed it with MR97. I prefused the 1st one with silver iridized and black with a full fuse - the irid side down on the black, then put it on the mold and fused u...

Beautiful as always. You inspire us all, and I thank you for your many posts. I can't imagine the amount of glass that you go through as well as the time and energy that it takes to do each piece.

Re: Buying a new kiln
Thanks for all of the info Linn. I'll definitely check it out as I want to take my time since I have to wait for my son to move the 220 line, but first we need to wait on the weather.

Buying a new kiln
Hi Everyone,
I've decided to buy a new kiln and have narrowed down my choices to the Pearl22 (Paragon), Skutt Clamshell and the Evenheat Studio Pro 24. Does anyone have a preference for one over the other and why. Thanks to anyone who is willing to give me some advice. Stay warm.

Re: How can I figure out ...
Cynthia and Warren, Thanks so much for your help. I guess I was pushing the limits, trying to get a big a piece as I could. I guess I'll be saving up for a bigger kiln. I do own at least seven books which I have read including Brad's and Stone's, but probably need to reread on a regular basis. I've ...

How can I figure out ...
what is wrong with my kiln. Actually, I think I know what is wrong, but hopefully someone can tell me how to fix it. This is the 2nd piece I've fired and has been ruined. Anyway, to make a long story short, when I opened my kiln today, this is what I saw. Here are the specifics: Bullseye glass, Irid...

Re: Books from the Light Reading series
As a librarian, I can only wish these were sitting on my check out desk. As a glass-a-holic, I can only wish I could do this. I love all of your work and also wish to "someday" take one of your classes.

Re: Pin stuck in glass
Thanks, Sharol and Marty. I couldn't get the pin out when refiring, so I used my dremel yesterday. It came out fine. I now have it back in the kiln -leveled
and covered with fine frit to fill in the divot. Hopefully, it will be okay. Thanks for your suggestions.

Pin stuck in glass
Hi all, What's the top temperature I need to go to get a pin that fell from the lid and is stuck in my glass. I really don't want to go to the top temp as I have already fired this piece twice so far. It is a pot melt which actually looks pretty; the second firing was to 1500 to even it out as my ki...

How small does coarse frit need to be
Hi everyone, I need some coarse frit and wanted to use up some scrap glass. So, yesterday I put it between cardboard and hammered away. I did pretty well (I think) and have what I need. My question is can some of the fit be small fingernail size. I'm planning on a freeform design for my flat disc wh...

Re: Uro & Celadon not playing nice
Thanks guys for the input. Both glasses were 96. I checked with polarizing film - no halo. I still haven't learned how to reduce the size of a photo so I can post a picture  I have it in the kiln right now doing a flip and fire - a little hotter with a little more of a hold. It's still too hot...
