I am in the middle of a piece which requires 1700 holes to be drilled. No you did not read that wrong--there are 425 squares with a hole on each side. What I would like to know is where I can find treatment for being the kind of person who designs a piece which requires me to drill 1700 holes. Serio...

lol! I thought maybe it would be disrespectful to have one as a decoration--just to use as a candle holder you know? Like using a baptismal font to store your beer in or something... Amy Well, you probably shouldn't use one to hold candy canes or anything like that. Tony Darn and that was ju...

I'm with Amy, makes me wish I was Jewish! They are gorgeous and surprise, surprise, I like the colorful ones the best. Menorah or not, I think they would look fabulous decorating anyone's home. Or maybe that would diminish their significance.....I am not very familiar with Judaism. Lisa Oh no Lisa,...

Very cool house--it so fits with its surroundings. You must be so proud of it esp. because you did so much of it yourself. I said it was like the opposite of ours because our house is surrounded by 60 to 80 foot tall pine, maple and arbutus with a view of the ocean in the distance through the trees....

I would highly recommend the Glastar All-Star--nice big work surface and has worked wonderfully for me for several years despite the fact that I have been very hard on it. I'm not familiar with the Inland grinders you mention--maybe someone else will know more about them.

I called Ed Hoy and they are sending me some pictures and prices of the ones they carry. If it works out I can just go down and pick them up. I'm kinda looking for something inexpensive for some production work I'm trying to develop. Amy, I do have a couple of local people that could do this, but I...

Amy I have my frames welded locally (average cost so far has been between $40 and $100 for the welding) and would do the same if I wanted something like you are talking about. If you get the metal and cut it up as you want it (which isn't that hard--you could have someone do this for you too if you ...

It depends on the type of glass you are using. Bullseye recommends 960 for their glass and the amount of time you hold depends on the thickness of the glass. Check here for listings of times for different thicknesses http://www.bullseye-glass.com/techinfo/anneal.html Again I don't know if making sma...

I am simply annealing "naturally"...by letting the kiln cool on it's own to room temp, so all I can do is HOPE my pieces do not break. I have kept all of them so far, and no breakage....but when I start to sell them, what can I do to assure they will NOT break? I want to be sure of sellin...

Molly just remember that because something doesn't crack when you take it out of the kiln too soon doesn't mean it won't crack. If you create stress in the piece it may not show up right away and you could sell something to someone which will crack a day, a week, a month or a year later. Its hard to...

hi Amy. Try

They are very reliable, and not to far away. They are located in Shelton Washington.

Thanks for the suggestion Jim but I looked at the site and they don't appear to sell Bullseye rods which is all I use. Am I mistaken?

C & R Loo

I've ordered from C & R Loo several times (always BE rods) in the past and quite often had problems receiving the wrong things or having things left off an order. After not ordering for more than a year I found myself in need of some rods and although I buy most of my glass locally, (or straight...

Do you wear something when you peek in?? You should always be protecting your eyes when you look in the kiln!! Long term exposure can lead to lots of problems.

After your kiln wash has been prefired it should be a little dusty. That dry kiln wash is what the glass is going to sit on top of so it doesn't stick. If its really dusty maybe you put the wash on too thick?? In that case just use a cloth to dust some of it off.
Good luck!
