The billets were in the box and end up around 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" thick. The bubbles are at the top range 1/8 to 1/4 wide and maybe 1/8" +\- deep. I'll work a new schedule and if it doesn't work out, I'll just bust it up and start over.
Thanks

Refiring box casting
I fired 3 box castings at the same time using bullseye's suggested firing schedule from their educational video on Box Casting, 2 came out perfect and one came out with some not so nice bubbles, that just started to collapse, my question is, can I refire it at a longer, slower schedule. Should I dri...

Re: Lid Lifter
Could I just rotate the steel band, heat it up then tighten and redrill it after I replace the bad crumbling brick?

Re: Lid Lifter
When I talked to Scutt they said I couldn't replace the brick, which I thought, why not? So, all I need to do is to cut out bad brick and replace it. Sounds easy, is it?

Lid Lifter
I'm at that point in my life where lifting the Scutt gm1414 kiln lid is a pain. Its to heavy and I seem to be tweeking the lid a bit when I lift it to the point where the brick has started to break at the hinge area and I'm afraid it's going to break completly apart. So, I'm looking at the Scutt lid...

Barbara I'm a picture framer and I'm not to sure by what you mean by channeled mirror frames. Could it be stain glass moulding which does have a channel? or something else. I carry 100's of samples in my shop and the only one with a channel is the Stain glass moulding. You could also use regular mou...
