Try fire polishing without an overspray...I've noticed that it tends to trap that scummy look.

How many layers of glass are you using? Glass likes to be about 3 layers thick and will spread out or ball up to reach that thickness. Martha Stewart has a line of stainless steel bathroom accessories.
I used her waste basket to make a light...it was only$15.00. I also bought a shaker it was the same size as the large floral former mold..but also much cheaper than the regular molds.

yes you can tack them during a slump...I usually apply a little glue to keep them from moving.
