AT&T - moved from Spab
Since we live in the mountains we have never been able to use our cell phone when at home. This week Joel gave AT&T a call about our pricing and billing and mentioned that to them. They told us they have a $200 microcell booster that we could buy and attach to our internet that would give us a s...

Re: Pot Melt
If you do not have a sandblaster try melting onto a clear glass piece. We use a stainless steel ring for the form with 1/8 fiber paper (not shelf paper) in the inside of the ring and then put a clear blank that easily drops into the ring....not disturbing the fiber paper. Without using a clear glass...

Re: Frit Maker
After using "frit smashers" of different makes and sizes I have found that I like best the thick clear plastic that full sheets of dichro come in and a good old hammer. Quickly thru a screen system to get off the dust and good to go......
Never seen this system before......

Re: Molds are there better Molds?
My thoughts...... When you use molds such as Colour De Verre's and follow their video on the application and firing the work great! Using MR-97 has eliminated any spikes for me and the glass just slides out. Once you have used it on a mold you can not go back to kiln wash and you need to remove resi...

Re: Schedule advice
On a busy design like that I would not cap it with clear. Even with a good bubble squeeze program it will be prone to problems. Your schedule is very odd all around. I would fire it 250 / 1100 hold 30 min 50 / 1250 hold 60 min. (bubble squeeze) 350 to finish temp (depending on the look you want) 999...

Re: Genesis lg format kiln
The fiber is held with clips. It was not hard to remove them. When we did and removed the fiber blanket it was easy to scrape off any remaining rust. Some of it was sheets over 6"! The hard part was holding the new blanket in place. I am sure when they made these kilns they had the lid upside d...

Re: Square/Squareup Credit Card processing
Kevin..... When the square transaction goes thru and is authorized you no longer have a record of their credit card number. If they enter an email address to get a receipt you no longer get that either. ( which is a shame) Any credit card transaction can be reversed by the owner of the card. Not jus...

Re: Genesis lg format kiln

Re: Screen Melts
Maybe the reason that this schedule works for us is that my kiln cools very slowly. For instance last night i had a look and it was 800 at 11 pm and this morning at 8 am it is 450. In a fast cooling kiln i would agree with your caution. I should have added the footnote that every kiln fires differen...

Re: Genesis lg format kiln
Thanks for all the email responses............ What a fiasco this morning has been. The kiln went from "some" rust particles falling from the area between the lid steel and the fiber to a full on cascade....... The more I tried to contain it the more it cam out. It came out in 6" chun...

Genesis lg format kiln
I have a genesis kiln that has the flat table with the depth and coils built into the lid. I was wondering if anyone else has this kiln and if you are having problems with rust falling as you close you lid to fire. It is coming from the space between the fiber and the wall and is progressivly gettin...

Re: cutting circles
Both.....we use it all. Spectrum is extra easy. Just be sure you cutter has a good blade. We maybe get 30-40 18" rounds and then change the blade.

Sorry....that is too much waste for me especially when you are making large rounds. I maybe leave 1/8" extra and no problems here!

It can fail 6 months later...... Just not a good thing unless you are keeping the piece yourself.

Re: using cookie cutters
Just a thought....when you think your clay is totally dry , put it on
top of your kiln lid while you are firing a glass load. This will knock out antp hidden moisture so you can bisque without anything exploding!
