Funny I had the same problem last week. I had a gigantic bubble using the new thinfire paper. I also used red for the bottom piece. Did you do anything with the bubble red? I only have myself to blame... I know that the new thin fire does cause bubbles but before it only happened on this pieces of ...

Got Bubble thanks to Bullseye new thin fire.. Can I slump it

The bubbles did not break. The bottom is red irid. I want to slump it into a platter mold.

Think I should try and slump it flat first, then another one in the mold? or so straight to the mold?

What will the irid look like bubbled then reflattened?

Paragon once told me to put the thermocouple in a glass of ice water and see what it read. Then put it into an 250 degree oven and see what it read at that temp. I ran those tests and also then ran the Kiln thru a cycle with a analogue proymater to see what the temp was doing.

When said that Harbor Frright had ot fpr $249 he went down to $176. 2 questions... is this a good saw? Will it cut pattern bars and the occasional 2 inch slab? Is the price of $176 a go...

At a production shop that I work at a few days a week we use Hotline's Pate-De-Verre & Fusers Glue every day and have no problem with it. Unfortunely when I was doing my hot box demo all I had access to was the elmers. For the woman who asked where to get it. We get it from Ed Hoy's here in the ...

NY sightseeing

I will be coming up to NY in August. I will be spending a weekend in the city and then going to Montecello, NY. I live in Virginia and the only thing I know about Montecello it is not in Charlottsville and Thomas Jefferson did not live there. So, any suggestions of things to see and do would be appr...

I agree with Tom. It took me a few times to get the correct use down but now I love the Taurus. And yes, they did answer a few questions when I called them and I did get a new blade sent to me from them. But I love it now and think highly of their customer service. Tom, Can we see pics of some of th...

In old town there is a glass blower that has a studio set up so you can see them blowing.

Also Blacksheep Glass Comcpany is there, not sure if they are open for walkins.

If you are using the new Thin Fire the problem could be the new paper.. it is thinner and denser and on a thin firing bubbles start.. we have gotten arorund it by putting a sheet of 1/8 inch fiber blanket under it which can be used multiple times. There are many great things with the new paper.. but...

Sodium Silicate to seal fiber board

I am going to put fiber board on the wall near my kiln but I wanted to seal the fibers.... it was suggested to use Sadium Silicate (water Glass) as a sealant. It took almost a pint to paint on one side using a foam brush. Any suggestions on other ways to get it on.. maybe spraying.. or maybe sodium ...

Elmers Glue.. maybe too much

I have been using Hotline's Fusers Glue for years and had no problem. Today I got lazy and used Elmers glue. I was crating air bubbles between BE red and clear and was wondering if it is possible to use too much Elmers and have it come out looking like a solder splatter?
