Hi Barbara, I have the same mold you're talking about. I also have the original box and directions that came with it. The number is Rose FL1. The molds are made by Optimum. They recommend Optimum glass #626 Avantique for pale lavender and #600 Venetian for Texas rose. I'm sure you can use any glass ...

I agree with Barbara, the shelf I got from Bullseye is excellent.

The shelves cut fairly easy, If you don't have a tile saw you could put a masonary blade in a skill saw and trim your shelf. Don't forget a respirator. Very dusty.

I take my pot melts up to 1675° and hold there for two hours. I agree, 1700° may be a bit high. The two hour hold allows the glass to level out and for the colors to swirl. You probably didn't have enough kiln wash on your shelf. I put on about 14 coats. I use Spectrum96 all the time for my pot me...

Three things determine how a pot melt turn out. How the glass is placed in the pot, the size of the hole and the height of the drop. Try cutting the glass into 3/4" strips and place them vertically. Open up the hole in the pot to and inch and a quarter. 1-1/4" A drop from two inches high w...

Stephanie, for a year I had a kiln about eight feet away from my car and didn't have any problems. Fumes is something to be concerned about weather they are from gas or lacquer thinner or paint reducer. If you're worried about the fumes, open the doors for a while before you begin firing. Make sure ...

Thanks Nancy and Tony for the tips. I fired at 800° per hour to 1225°. I put in a thirty minute hold. I got a call from a customer and didn't get back to the kiln until 15 minutes into the hold. I had the draping cone resting on two pieces of kiln furniture. The bad news is the glass was draped al...

In issue #61 of Stained Glass News there is an article by Gil Reynolds. Part of the article tells how to identify the glass manufacturer by looking at the edge of the glass. If you're not sure of the color from the edge, stack three of four pieces together, the color will be stronger. When viewed fr...

I fused a small piece of pink to a larger piece of clear, then checked it between two pieces of polarizing film backlit with a flashlight. No white halo surrounding the piece. Nice and clear. Judy, do you cap the baroque with clear, or fire with the baroque on top? Sometimes the baroque devits when ...

New Spectrum Peppermint Pink Baroque

Has anyone tried fusing with the new Peppermint Pink Baroque from Spectrum ?
Is it compatible like the other baroques?
I don't wanna run a test cause I'm busy.
OK, and lazy too.

Thanks for all the wonderful compliments. I had fun making it and plan on making more. It was well received by others I have shown it to also. It gets a little boring cutting all those strips but the results are well worth it. Here's a pic of when I first started assembling it. http://f1.pg.photos.y...

It's 15-1/2" diameter, all Spectrum glass. The red/orange/yellow strips are a cut up pot melt.

A couple of other sites I belong to have picture hosting and the costs are covered through donations. Just a thought. Thanks for a great site and happy fourth aniversa...

My Glass Got Scum, How Come ?

Trying to use up some of my broken pot melt stock, I thought I'd incorproate it into a bowl ala Marty K. I cut the pot melt into strips then filled in around them with 1/4" black strips on edge. (all Spectrum 96 COE glass) Then I flipped everything over and fired. The next day I ground it round...
