Beautiful work Jackie.....as always! You've definitely developed your style to perfection! Tell Roger I'm very impressed with the mounting systems he is doing for you. I wish we were closer...I'd hire him in a minute, although I'm sure that wouldn't be high on his list of enjoyable past times. Say H...

I'll join this effort too. Let's see....this will eliminate sandblasted black irid, platter shapes, dichro, gold lusters, AND micas ... OH NO(How will I live????)! Avery Yes, Avery. No black. No round shapes. No surface design. No animals and no drawing! Enjoy. Steve Hmmm....well Steve, I'm gonna c...

Sounds good to me Jackie. For me it looks like a non-irid colorful piece with a completely random design and non-functional shape. I'm in. Actually was thinking in this direction for some time. Got some ideas that involve mica's. Going to have to call Avery on this one and brush up on my notes from...

Hey everyone again: I would like to respond to what Becca said: And furthermore, does the amount of coldworking equipment contibute to this? Maybe touchy or maybe not. I too have wondered about this. I don't have a WB sander yet, so I feel that my work is not good enough until I get that expensive ...

CarolB, When I took Karen Reed's class on Surface Design of fused glass, she said most paint wouldn't adhere to glass unless you sandblasted or etched the surface first. This would remove the slick surface and you might have better luck. Alecia Thanks for the suggestion, Alecia. I do not have a san...

When I first discovered micas some 15 years ago, it was by reading an article in my Mom's Ceramics magazine. Shortly thereafter, I was thumbing through the Sepp Leaf catalog and saw their listing for micas. They were selling them to be mixed with varnishes, shellacs, and acrylic paints which were fo...

I haven't given CMC the taste test yet (nevermind...you had to be there). Rick LaLonde uses CMC in his frit work (http://www.richardlalonde.com). It seems very similar to Klyr Fire, with the exception that it comes in powder form so you can mix to any consistency you wish. It burns off clean as does...

I agree with Bert about SSR's although I've heard differing opinions. Some people swear by mechanical relays while others prefer SSR's. With the help of TOB (the other Brad), I installed a shunt trip circuit breaker on my controller. I can program it to shut the kiln down if it goes over the high t...

Congratulations everyone! This is exciting news. My American Craft should be here soon so I'll be anxious to see the photos. I've been in a show at the Ironwood Gallery and it is a great venue....sold most of my pieces during the show and was very impressed with their professionalism. Kudos Jackie, ...

I agree that some of the pieces posted do not warrant positive feedback, but could instead, be given some honest and constructive criticism. We all started out the same...simply melting glass and observing what happens. After time..sometimes years....these pieces took on more meaning and technical e...

I concur. This topic has been discussed many times over the past two years, but never went anywhere. It seems now is the appropriate time to move forward. Like Tony said, in organizations you have committees and sub committees to do the work and research. This would eliminate Brad and Jody having to...
