Re: Can I fix devit on tack fused tekta with powder?
Thanks for your comments. So many variables to consider and sometimes there are just surprises…good and bad! With closer scrutiny the devit is on the flat side of the piece so it’ll require a redo. Now whether to try it on thin fire so the back is texture free like the 3 pieces that complete the win...

Can I fix devit on tack fused tekta with powder?
I'm back to fusing after several years and I see that folks have devit issues with tekta on thin fire. Wish I'd known. I've tack fired 2 same size pieces for a split window in a door. Both have compatible colored pieces on 3 mm Tekta clear, fired on thin fire with 1/4" fiber surrounds to mainta...

Best lights for light box
Hi, I'm finally building a studio after several years without. Looking to build a light box/table into a counter top. My old box had uneven light and was several inches high....wondering what are the best lights to use now. LED tape? Hoping this box won't need to be deep and that the light will be d...

Re: Capping a fuchsia striker 1332-50
Correct..1101-31. Prefer to use clear on top to make tight lines in pieces below. So, fuchsia will fully strike if capped. Thanks!

Capping a fuchsia striker 1332-50
Need to know ASAP:
Will BE 1332-50 strike if capped with tekta 3.0- rainbow irid?? or do I need to have the clear on the bottom? I'll full fire to 1480, per your suggested program, with 45 min. hold at 1225.

Full fuse 2 mm dichroic stringers
My kiln full fuses at 1480 and tacs at 1350 F. 1 MM dichroic stringer, at 1350, doesn't always adhere (some pieces do, some don't) on a base of 6.0 BE transparent, and at 1480 flattens more than I want. Question: what will 2 mm stringer do at 1480? I'm guessing that it will not fully flatten, but wi...

Adhesive for Wood/Glass Sculpture
Looking for some expert advice… I'm commissioned to create a yellow cedar (an oily wood) and glass sculpture to be placed outside in Alaska - temp range 0-80F, windy and very wet coastal environment. Wood will have various sized windows into which fused glass will be placed. I need some kind of adhe...

Re: Fire polish strip construction
Thanks for your comment. I also don't have a sandblaster so used my diamond pad, 400 grit, and then sprayed with Super Spray. Pretty good success, but not the perfection to match my really cool, neat staight lines in the glass. I'm wondering if a more aggressive use of the pads might work and then r...

Fire polish strip construction
Just fired my first edge strip construction with great results, BUT… I want to flip and refire to fire polish since I like the precise lines on the bottom side. I know I'll need to dam again as it is 8 mm thick, and fire to 1400…. Question: will I lose the precision in the lines? Will they become mo...

mounting a 9 segment piece
Here's the plan: 9 parts of an overall mural that will hang 3 pieces up and 3 across with 1/2-1" space between...so it looks something like a quilt Each segment is about 14x10" of fused glass - base 3.2 tekta and top 3.2 of various transparent blues and greens to create curvy, underwater s...

Envirovent...should I use it?
HI folks and thanks for the previous replies to my questions. You are such a resource! I've read the archives, but found nothing definitive re this question, and nothing very new, so I'm hoping for a reply or two. I have an Envirovent and just don't know whether to install it or not. I have an Evenh...

Spray A & BE thin vanilla color change
I recently fired a piece that incorprated some BE thin vanilla glass. As it was a 2nd firing and I was bringing it up to 1425 slowly, I used Spray A to guard against devit. Big mistake! The thin vanilla turned a dark mustard color, while all other glass was unaffected. Anyone know why? Do other glas...

Re-fusing broken project???
This question quickly shows my level of expertise, but I'll go for it anyway. My husband and I have collaborated on an outhouse door...not just any door, but a teak, dutch door with 4 panels of fused glass in the top and wood carving around the glass to extend the pattern. Looks great except... 2 pa...
