Re: Can this be fixed?
Thank you so much. Les, It will not be seen from the back (which is opaque) so I will first try working from the front after renewing kiln shelf and dam preparation. Good idea to add another tree or similar element over crack. I appreciate the schedule advice. I was thinking about 50ish per hour and...

Can this be fixed?
I made a large 9mm thick landscape piece following the method I learned in Roger Thomas's class. One firing. I decided to "fix" the imperfect edges by re-firing with my new now-long-enough dams. For a reason I cannot fathom I used my notes from Miriam Di Fiore's class to do this re-fire. G...

Re: Return of the Ruffled Feathers
Les, I've been meaning to ask you about your nests - which I love. Do you slump your nest glass directly on the metal branches you have made? It looks like a perfect fit.

Re: Another Enameled Cab
It looks like a sister planet to Earth. Very interesting textural aspect and quite appealing. I expect you'll find a way to combine your experiments and bits and pieces while you wait for warm weather.

Re: The Road
I think it is really beautiful. great color and design balance. The long strips look metallic. Also, just got the double yellow center-of-the-road lines. Literal but still interesting.

A beautiful and unusual piece. Lovely flow achieved with the lines and well suited to the scalloped edge mold.

Am I correct to assume you must drill holes for air to escape during slumping?

Re: Super Spray to fill holes
Thank you for such thoughtful replies. I have to grind the edges since there are rough spots from contact with the dams/fiber paper so I will also use my Dremel to drill out the brick fragments and then fire polish. I'll use the product Cynthia mentioned to make the drilled areas shiny. This way I'l...

Re: Super Spray to fill holes
Morganica - "tiny" being a range from an average fine size frit to a large medium size frit. Each of the 3 pieces of glass is about 17" X 19" Roger Thomas style landscape. They might even go unnoticed by anyone but me. Valerie and Laurie - I wanted to avoid another full fuse sinc...

Super Spray to fill holes
Will some Super Spray added during fire polish be satisfactory to fill the tiny holes I'll make when I drill out the tiny bits of lid crud dropped during firing? My Skutt clamshell just started dropping bits of kiln brick when I started making larger, thicker, more complex pieces. You know, the ones...

I can't offer advice on photography but I must comment on the beauty of your work. When I clicked to enlarge each photo the subtle details of the work could be seen. I particularly like the ripples on the surface of the pond. It really gives the effect of looking out the window on a rainy day. I alm...

Re: Upon the Mere - A New Bowl
I just have to say that "Upon the Mere" is on it's way to my home right now. I've followed Sharol's work closely for some time and finally asked her if she would do a commission piece for me. I wanted a "triple threat" piece with crackle, wire melt and combing. Also wanted to see...

Re: Richard La Londe Rattle Workshop
The rattles are so interesting. I didn't notice on the first go-round that there was a second page in the link. I could see the outlines of the pieces more clearly in that one. Are the support pieces steel? If so, did you cut out those too and texture them? Nice work.

Great job. Such nice, clean lines. Also good photography to capture the personalities of the animals. I'd love to screen print but so far haven't even been able to figure out how to use Photoshop to get the image appropriately ready.

I really love the way this piece evokes a fog-bound feel. The smooth quality of the gradual change in the gray-blue background is outstanding. Another beautiful piece!
