black halo

I think my halo sounds like what Brock described, but I found the article which said to use Fuse Master 975 Black Magic Overglaze. The article says to apply this to the ground edges of the dichro to prevent a "shadow" when the project is fired. Have you heard of, or used this stuff. Maybe ...

What's the name of the stuff?

I've read there is a product that you can use when fusing dichroic pieces that eliminates the "black halo" that usually happens. Does anyone know the name, and where I can get it?
Thanks,
Vickie

Disappearing act~~~~~~~~~~

Hi all,
I just received my new Tauras 3 ring saw, and want to know of a good marking pen that will not wash away my pattern, with all the water that is being sprayed on the glass.
Thanks,

I have been using E-6000 with great results. You do need to rough up both surfaces, and it does fine.

will I lose a finger?

I am waiting to get my new Tauras 3, which I have no experience using. My question is, does it cut through skin? I have given myself an unexpected manicure using my grinder, so now I wonder if I can chop my finger off if I'm not careful using the ring saw. No, really!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get a r...

will I lose a finger!

I'm waiting to receive my Tauras 3 ring saw, which I have no experience using, and am wondering if I have to be really careful as to if it cuts through skin! No, really!!! I have had a home-made manicure using my grinder by accident, so I'm just wondering if this thing can buzz through my finger. Br...

Lava Cloth

Just saw an add for a new thing called Lava Cloth. It has some interesting texture to it to add to the bottom of your fusing project. It will take up to 10 (I think) uses, before you toss it. You fuse right on it, thus eliminating the need for kiln wash. Has anyone used it yet? It's not very expensi...

Tauras ring saw

Has anyone purchased the new Tauras 3 ring saw yet/ if so, comments please! What kinds of things are you doing with it, or any ring saw for that matter. I'm thinking of buying one, but wonder how much I will use it. Seems kind of fun!

to Suzette fiber paper

I use the 1/32 paper ONLY,,it does the best job. You have to really peel it off carefully in order to use it again. But i use a rolling pin to make it nice and smooth. i can usually get 3 uses out of it. I tried BE thin paper, and got HUGE bubbles in my glass, so i won't use it again. Hope this help...

thin fire people

Is this "new" thin fire paper that great? Whenever I used the old, I ruined my project by getting HUGE bubbles. I like the thicker stuff.
But, I would love to get a smooth bottom too. Where do you order this new stuff?

I have found some findings at Delphi Glass, in Lansing MI. You just glue them on to the back, and it looks great! They have a large and small size.

Jen Ken 24"

I've had my Jen Ken 24" for a few months. I love the viewing window. You can do some nice "deep" projects in it. Mine has the 3 key Orton controller. I was easy to learn how to use it, as I necer had experience with a controller before. BUT, you might want to get the 12 key controller...

spiked edges, ouch!!

Almost all of my fused pieces have little spikes around the perimeter of the glass when I take it out of the kiln. I file them down, but it doesn't have that nice rolled edge that I want. I usually fuse at 400 to 1450, and hold for 10 min. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks,

one layer vs. two

I am going to make a platter, app 15' using one layer of BE glass, the thick cut. Is this O.K. to do, as opposed to fusing two layers, and then slumping. I've done one layer before, using a smaller mold, and it worked out fine.

prep stainless steel mold

One easy way is to use your hairdryer. Turn it on, and aim it at your mold. As it gets hot, start to apply your kiln wash, alternate the heat with the kiln wash. You will see your mold start to turn white, as the wash is drying. I have found this to be easier than putting the mold in the kiln, etc. ...
