I took a pate de verre class a year or so ago and the instructor mentioned using some pourable latex to make copies of the positive so one can make duplicates later... does anyone know what this stuff is actually called and where to get it?
Thanks,
Nancy

You are cleaning the kiln wash off before applying the glue right? I don't grind mine and have no trouble..... but if it's earrings you can just hold the back up to your grinder. (you may have trouble lining larger things up with the grinder head to grind the right spot........ if you don't have a g...

I've been selling from my website for ohhhhhhhhh 6 years or so..... I'm not going to kid you and say it's easy. It's not hard to maintain a site but it is work and there is a learning curve. I was a programmer in my former life so for me it's a given. I take orders every week from my site and it is ...

I hear so many horror stories about classes people have taken! It's amazing and really very sad. One of the worst was a teacher who had her students grind all the unfired pieces down into perfect circles so they would come out of the kiln round....... hmmmmmm....... I don't know which is worse.... '...

The use of E6000 always seems to rile folks up for or against! I've seen it over and over. I've used E6000 for about 9 years and I can count the returns on my left hand. For earrings I squeeze out a little blob right on the top of the tube where it squeezes out.... I don't put it anywhere else.... t...

Bails by themselves
This is the one used in the pendant shown and is sterling silver.... you can glue either the rough side or the smooth side to your piece (the rough side is shown.) http://www.ugotglass.com/images/pieces/diskbail.jpg This one is pewter; looks good, costs less: http://www.ugotglass.com/images/pieces/l...

I use E6000. Now, lots of folks say they have trouble with E6000 and things coming off but I've used it since 1995 and have only had about 5 pieces come apart (out of 1000's) and that was almost always when I had a new assistant working with me who didn't use enough glue. My theory is that those who...

Hello Camaro: Yep, they are called Bails. I have several different types that I use and sell; several jewelry supply companies also sell various types. Do you have a jewelry supply company you deal with? If so look carefully in their catalog. There was someone on eBay selling a nice one too... if yo...

So I wasn't crazy about the term Ceramic.... if you can't find a dealer locally use some of the names given in this thread plus the term Ceramic Fiber Paper and you should be able to find one online; I know I did at one time but just didn't save the URL. There have been some great threads on this complex subject on the CraftsReport.com site; also a great magazine if you don't read it already. It's a lot more complex than this but..... You have to know your true cost before selling your work or you will probably give your stuff away and go out of bus...
