pin frogs
Anyone know a good place to buy pin frogs in bulk? I've been buying from Aftosa but they seem a bit expensive. Thanks! Marc

machine rolled BE
I always use URO machine rolled clear. It is very flat, no bubbles, and almost as flawless as window glass. Marc

wrapping paper
I've been using newspaper to wrap my glass at sale but I think it's a bit tacky. Any ideas what to use? And where to get it? Thanks! Marc

For anyone interested, I just got a quote from Mackie Insurance for Liability insurance that seems very reasonable. They offer home business insurance, with coverage for shows. I think CA based businesses only, but check for other states. The quote was 276.00 for $300,000 liability coverage at home ...

I use cone 4 lowfire clay to make my molds. I fire it to 1650 (like most glass kilns my kiln isn't supposed to go over 1700) and the molds work fine, though they do break if not handled with care. The most important thing about making clay molds is to make sure they are completely dry bofore firing ...

Falling pins are a HUGE problem! They will ruin your work, the coils will eventually fall out and dust will also be falling into your glass. I've had my 1414 re-pinned had those pins fall out too and then had Skutt send me a new lid. New lid has same problem. I was recently told Skutt has started th...

I've made sushi plates with exposed irrid inclusions. Unless I am imagining things, I have noticed the irrid will change color when exposed to acid food, like pickled ginger. It sort of muddies the blue, but not bad enough to worry about so far. I don't know if it will continue to change over time. ...

I use superspray all the time now and feel it gives me the most consistent and professional finish. You can get it to mature as low as 1300 if you hold a long time (1 1/2 to 2 hrs). I do this succesfully when slumping someting that has steep sides and needs a long slump. Works great. I think the bes...

If I could design my own kiln, I would get one that lets me control the side elements. I've found that the side elements in my JenKen will seal the edges of my large pieces and trap air. The side elements do help even out the heat though. On larger pieces I like to use my Paragon with top element on...

Thanks everyone for your help. I just ordered the saw from Contractors Depot. They also had the 215gl blade and I got the splash guard too since people have said it makes a mess. Thanks for the Silicon Carbide block advice Dee. I'll check Home Depot since we don't have a Lowes here. Sadie, shipping ...

Sadie: Sorry, I gave the wrong resource. It's actually Contractor's Depot: http://www.mk-diamond-saws.com/tile.htm. 1-877-266-3532. Shipping was a good rate too.

mk370 saw blade... what type?
I'm thinking of ordering an mk370 saw from builders resource. I think they have a good price at $265 including blade. However, the blade is for tile and stone. They say it is a diamond blade but not suitable for glass. The glass blade they sell is about $45 with a kerf of .06. They also sell a lapid...

wire to hang glass
I searched the archive, but I must not be very good at it.
What is a good wire to fuse between two layers of glass? Any idea where to buy it? I'd like to do some window hangings. I found some wire for jewelery but I think it is too thin to hold up anything substantial.
Thanks! Marc
