Nothing to do with compressors, but just happy to see you're OK, Bert. I hadn't seen you around for a while and was afraid to ask!
I don't do FB so really miss the lively conversations and good advice that used to flow more frequently here.Jen

Re: Slumping 2 mil glass
Late update..... When the temperature cooled down I made a mold from a piece of old kiln shelf. Mold made to slump picture glass.png The glass is a piece of 2 mil (+/-) picture glass from an op-shop. I don't know if it was tin up or tin down. It was old so may not be float. It was cut slightly large...

Re: Bieffe 2 drafting table rigidity
Update: the seller kindly came over and was able to release the foot brake quite easily with his foot and, with a bit of effort, was able to adjust the position of the top. (He does have leg muscles like a marathon runner's.) It had been in storage for about ten years so maybe the WD 40 has now pene...

Re: Everyone needs a boost once in awhile.
Haydo, we survived unscathed because we are up high and the worst of the winds and rain went elsewhere. So sorry for all those people who have lost everything, especially those who lost loved ones. Let's hope Rocky avoids the worst. I'm amazed at the positive attitudes of so many who have lost their...

Re: Everyone needs a boost once in awhile.
Haydo, did your house and studio survive? Hope it did, and your trees as well and you're not reclaiming bits of your roof from the neighbours' yards. Must have been a huge relief when the cyclone and the king tide didn't coincide.

Re: Bieffe 2 drafting table rigidity
I'm probably going to have it put down. I did get some guidance from a woodwork forum suggesting it may have been tipped over backwards, bending the ram and recommending checking the rams for straightness, as that could affect the triangulation on which the adjustment depends. (Too much information ...

Stay safe, Haydo! We see low-lying parts of Mackay are now under evacuation orders. Crawl under the BGT? It's pretty hard to move. All the best for a safe Cyclone Debbie crossing of the coast. Jen

Re: Everyone needs a boost once in awhile.
Hope the bomb shelter is ready...hear that's possibly going to be a Cat 5 cyclone heading your way, not just a breeze murmuring in the not-cut-down trees. Big congrats on kicking the smokes. That will make a few days in the bomb shelter nicer for your fellow moles. All the best for riding it out saf...

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Thanks Peter. Fortunately I still have quite a bit left. I checked the product in your link, quite pricey. The 3M samples are not what I'm looking for. The adhesive is too strong and the non-adhesive surface is shiny, so not suitable for drawing on as you have found with the product you bought. I th...

WAAAAAAGGGHHHHH! Don, I hope you're not right! Now I'm going to put WD40 on the discs (plates) and pray they don't disintegrate. It's almost useless anyway. Jen

Bieffe 2 drafting table rigidity
This question is a long shot but I'm hoping there's someone out there who still does art and design by hand drawing. I have 2 Bieffe drafting tables and I can't find a manual on-line. So far there's been no response from the manufacturer. My T2 behaves perfectly. The foot control lifts easily, the a...

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
The Avery agent here says they have discontinued that product. If 3M can't help I'll see if I can have a look at the other Avery products.
I know someone will have something as sign shops use it for their plotters. Jen

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Thank you very much, Rick. I've emailed the local Avery agent and asked if they carry that product .
I've also contacted 3M locally to see if they carry an equivalent product and they are going to send me a sample of something that might work.
I'll report back. jen

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Rick, soon I'll be looking for some more masking as my roll is running low. I went to the Avery site here and this is what they have in that category:

Is one of these the product you use, please? Thanks Jen

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Oh yeah...whatever you do don't use destructible vinyl. When you go to weed it or remove it at the end of the job it will come off in tiny little fragments about 1/16" across. This is because it's made for price tags to deter people from trying to peel off and swap labels on items. The supplier...

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Thanks, Tod. I brought it up because Seachange resides in a part of the Commonwealth that is doggedly metric, nary an inch in sight, and I thought confusion might be possible. I'm not sure what would be used to describe the material here as it's probably imported. I'm still using a roll I brought fr...

Re: stencils for sanblasting - photoresist or vinyl cutter
Seachange, I've noticed the reference to 3 mil vinyl and wonder if that shouldn't be .003 mil ? 3 mil is pretty close to 1/8" which would be around the thickness of Buttercut which I don't think you want.....or is that .003 of an inch? Confusing terminology! 3 M's site also refers to .004 and 4...
