Can anyone advise me regarding installing quartz tube elements. I've been advised by Duralite to run their tubes through both ends of my kiln (4' long internally) This would mean that the hairpin bend on the element would need to be in an insulated box? on the outer case of the kiln. From my experience of patination on bronze you could try either warming the surface and applying wax or maybe spray laquer, what ever you use you need to stop air reaching the patinated surface else it will erode in time and possibly change colour.

I have pieces of copper lustred glass two years old, unlike their Raku pottery equivalent they haven't changed at all. Copper tends to give a variety of colours depending on thickness and temp from blue/greens through to pink and copper . Hope this helps

To avoid seperating problems after the glass is cut and cleaning the glue off how about using tape, parcel or insulation tape should do it.

Hi, I know of two people who use hoff? gas kilns to fuse and slump in,(art glass and float) they say there're great ....much cheaper than electricity.
