Re: Sandblaster dust collector

I use a bucket set up between my cabinet and the dust collector. It is amazing how much dust/grit that it recovers and prevents from going into the dust collector. I highly recommend it. Tim

Re: CONCAVITY in a VERMICULITE board

I've been successful with a thick mix of kiln wash, packed in, dried and smoothed, but often have to repeat each firing. I've also used a plaster/silica mix that worked reasonably well.

Re: "Dumbing down" of glass art?

Dan would be issuing a lot of citations these days. Too bad there was not a violations for those asking how to program their kiln, then a week later saying that they are teaching a class.....or those that advertise a "Master Class" on one site while seeking basic fusing advise on another s...

Re: Kiln wash

Personally, when it's time for new wash, I mask up and get out the electric hand sander. I like the smoothest surface possible. I apply and let dry naturally. No need to fire to 500. If impatient, I dry with the heat gun. Tim

Re: More kiln questions

The top elements in the Pearl are within the fiber top. I have the GL44ADTSD which is similar to the Peal 44, just opens differently and has more depth. I have three Paragon kilns and I am very happy with each of them. In my opinion, the Pearl 44 is a very nice kiln with the additional benefit of be...

Re: Shades of Gray III

Warren,
It is a 12 inch hole in the middle of a 20 by 20 kiln shelf. The blank before the drop was 19 by 19. Tim

Re: damaged kiln shelf

I know that I have seen people talk of products specific to this, so maybe they will chime in. I myself have done some repairs using mold material such as Castalot. Mix it up, make sure the area that you are patching is good and wet so as to not suck the moisture out of the mold material, spread it ...

Re: Compatibility Shift

In short, I probably could have gone lower for longer. This piece started as basically a large pattern bar stacked 2 inches high. The long hold allowed it to level out and rid itself of most of the bubbles, the final thickness being about an inch and a quarter. It was then cut on the tile saw to one...
