precious metal clay
I am thinking of adding some embellishments to a piece with pieces of precious metal clay. will the clay fuse to the glass? or will the glass crack because of incompatibility issues?

Re: Cooling small glass pieces - AFAP?
I Have a firebox 8 with out a fancy controller, for small pieces I just ramp it up hold and turn it off . It naturally cools down so slow that it has never been an issue.

Re: WHAT HAPPENNED HERE?
are you crash cooling your kiln?9 letting it get to the anneal hold with the lid open) That can cause the bricks to crack and eventually start to fall apart.

Re: split glass
I really don't think it was the anneal . my schedules are very concretive and have worked very well until now . I am prone to believe that it was not enough heat because for the first part of the slump everything was fine but as it started to drop down into the lower part of the mold it started to s...

Re: split glass
ok. since it did not break into separate pieces I was able to flatten and heal the piece. so I guess a longer hold at the 1000 point should take care of the problem when I re slump it?

split glass
My screen melt split about 10 minutes into the slump. I am assuming that there was not enough heat in the glass , and therefore the split. I was wondering though weather there could be some other factors that could have caused it? my schedule was as follows 200/1000 30 50/ 1150/ 30 this was a 3/8 th...

melting frit to make a single piece of glass
If I take glass that is from the same company, in this case Kokomo and frit scrap pieces( not necessarily from the same sheet ) but the same color into a fine frit, and than take them up to a full fuse in a mold and form 1 piece of glass will they be compatible since I have now made a single piece o...

float glass
If I stack 3 or 4 pieces of float glass together and tack fuse them and then do a shallow slump will I get float bloom between the layers of glass? I am thinking of sandblasting the various layers before I fuse them to see if I can get some depth. will the sandblasted image's remain in the glass at ...

Re: screen melt sticking to mold
Keven after reading your reply, I re examined both the mold and the piece, and I noticed that the areas of the glass that are affected are indeed the thicker parts of the piece. and there are small pin point holes in the kiln wash in the mold. can this be avoided in the future with Boron nitrate and...

Re: screen melt sticking to mold
for this one I went to 1240 and held for about 20 min I used primo primer on both molds . on the stainless I heated it up first and than sprayed several coats of the primer until I got a nice smooth coat I used 1240 because when I flattened out the first slump it did not flatten until 1230 also this...

vasoline glass
I have some glass that by a slight chance might be Vaseline glass I can't seem to locate a black light to check it out . I would like to use it in some pod molds and was wondering if there were any hazards I should be aware of either to me or the kiln.

Re: Getting indentations
this mold makes for a subtle effect, it looks best using cathedral or clear glass that you can see the design from the top other wise it is not very impressive as a design on the bottom ofa piece
