Hey Marty, I was in Israel last summer. Seemed like American tourists were everywhere, all the time.
And sorry, I don't know any Israeli glass artists other than those on this board.

Bullseye 1015 - reacts with silver
This glass is supposed to react with silver foil and result in a gold finished look.
Has anyone tried this yet? I bought a piece and don't know what to do with it, so I'd love to see other projects.

I live in Cincinnati and sometime in the next month or so plan to rent the vitrigraph kiln at our local Bullseye teaching studio. Don, you are welcome to come watch.

Re: Dense white
Just ordered some from Delphi. So it appears that it may still be in production. I'll know for sure next week when it arrives and I test it.

Re: Business Scruples
My studio is about 15 minutes from Thompson. I've only bought a sample pack from them to test colors and their customer service was stupendous. FYI, they offered to grind enamels to whatever size I specify...and I was only asking about small quantities. They also have a fairly complete inventory ava...

Les I always love seeing your work and cannot imagine why anyone would criticize your generosity and caring spirit. I am so happy you found a way to ignore ignorance and have challenged the rest of us to rise to your level. Good on ya! The glass world is relatively small, but so powerful and welcomi...

Marty - that site is a terrific resource. thanks for linking it. Susan - my spouse is a photographer but since we're in Cincinnati, he can't help you. He'd also agree with Marty that a cell phone is a lousy camera for anything other than snapshots. If you don't know any local photographers, see if t...

Re: ceramic and porcelain tiles as dams?
Here's another idea... I've been using the interlocking stainless pieces (http://www.slumpys.com/Warm-Glass-Molds/Lock-in-Mold) for square and rectangular pieces. I line it with 3mm fiber paper and/or use Boron Nitride. No damming needed...adjustable in 1/2 inch to 1 inch increments. One time invest...

Re: CMYK color separation
Thanks for the povs so far. This promises to be an interesting development project. I am starting with a very simple image, transparent BE powders and fine frits hand applied. I hope to figure out a decent set of colors to use, then move onto dry powder printing through screens. I do appreciate the ...

CMYK color separation
I am thinking about taking a photo image, separating it into its color components and screen printing each color, then stacking and fusing back together. Anyone done this? What learning can you share? What color BE powders would you recommend? I suspect this will be a long development process, but I...

Re: Glass Studio Setup
I store sheets of glass in a pretty simple wire rack. I found dividers that are typically used to inventory control (they are notched and fit in with tension) to separate the sheets...you can space these as close or as far as you want. And I put a piece of foam at the bottom of each shelf to cushion...

Re: Fusing segment help
I just took mine out of the kiln. Not sure if I like the design, but it worked. BE glass, slumped at 100 F/hr to 1225 held for 35 minutes. It took a total of 26 hours. Low and very slow seems to work best in my kiln. The cups dropped about 1/3 inch below the center and the overall height (from top o...

I was at Art Palm Beach last month...and believe I saw some of your work. Captivating and sensuous use of light and shadow. Very, very well done.

Re: Chihuly App
While I am cynical about his current business, on some level I do have to respect his ability to exploit his marketing to become a viable global brand. If people continue to buy, why shouldn't he take advantage? He's merely extending his brand once again. So where are the Chihuly-brand hot air ballo...

Here's my latest...it is a 16" bowl with scalloped edges (by design!). Would appreciate some feedback and suggestions for a display stand. Please ignore the light flare in this picture...haven't gotten this into the photo booth yet.

That's clearly someone with too much time on his/her hands and a bunch of extra material. I'm an urban girl in a 250 sq ft studio....so the nested pipes (taken outside to use) are about the only tool that fits!

Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?
At this point in my life, you'd think I would have internalized this lesson: Whatever seems too good to be true usually is. On the flip side, I figure if I'm batting 1.000, I'm not pushing the envelope far enough. So some experiments just need to be run...and as long as I'm willing to accept some ra...

Re: Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?
I used some of the finest frit on a platter and it turned out great. I will keep an eye on the coffee mill's plastic top and the stainless blades to make sure nothing winds up in future batches...and it looks like I have a new studio tool.

Alternate Frit Maker - any downsides?
I have been playing around with float and my latest piece needs some frit to finish it off. My clever spouse suggested I make some in an unused small Krups coffee grinder I happen have in my studio. So I tried it by cutting pieces of sheet glass into smallish pieces (about 1/3" squares). Ground...
