I will check with kiln manufacturers,
I have been informed it is not a function of heat.

removing bubbles
With clear casting using Resins, a method to remove bubbles is to saturate the surface of the liquid resin with Carbon Dioxide, CO2.
I do not know how it works but it does work.
Has anyone tried infusing CO2 into the kiln to remove bubbles from the hot glass.

Re: dichroic and no kiln
Yes there are, however they want three times the price compared to what is available in the USA. It is the freight that is the problemStephen Richard wrote:There must be kiln builders in Australia. Find one and get a custom one made.
Yes the dichoric will work in acrylic.

dichroic and no kiln
I am having difficulty getting a reasonable priced glass fusing kiln here in Australia. I am being quoted USD $750 in freight alone, just for a small kiln ( I bring 20ft shipping containers from China for $1,000) While I am sorting this out. Can I embed black backed dichroic glass in a clear casting...

I don't believe Greg has been anywhere near the great barrier reef? I have been diving on Australia's great barrier reef for 50 years and I have never seen anything like that underwater. "Preserving the great barrier reef" have you been there lately. I have been going there for 50 years, a...

Re: How to Tell Good Art from Bad?
Thank you Peter, I love your comment "if the public like it it can't be art". In the painting art industry as least you see a "trickle down effect" In the Australian Sculpture industry? it is all about "who you Know" The elites looking after themselves.(up themselves, w...

Re: ArtPrize
Wonderful Craft, Art should immediately impress and have an emotional recall. This piece of work impresses, it stands out and attacts attention, good, but I do not see any emotional recall? So it is not Art. Here in Australia a $100,000 prize was given for a ridiculous sculpture because it had a phi...

Re: How to Tell Good Art from Bad?
It is not that confusing. Art should immediately impress and have an emotional recall. What is this good art, art is art, it its not art it is craft or crap Here in Australia a $100,000 prize was given for a ridiculous sculpture becaue it had a philosophic title. Without the title it would be seen a...

Re: float glass frit
Any other comments in regard to float glass frit, colored with enamels.
Is the tin contamination (float glass) going to cause any problems.
Should I use clear bottle glass instead.??
Art glass in Australia is just TOO expensive, plus I have to pay freight if I am ordering from the USA.

best result, flat glass or frits
I plan to make solid curved pieces of fused glass which are epoxyed on to a backing after firing. To get a transparent look should I cut pieces out of solid glass and layer or produce a mold and use course frit prior to firing. The reason I am asking is, if I am going to cut and layer curved pieces ...

Re: float glass frit
Hi Bert, I live in Australia, Fused art glass is very expensive, not enough competition. For example, I was quoted USD$1,800 for a taurus 3 ring saw, here last week??? I am hoping to make glass sculpture (I have been a sculptor for 35 years, though not in glass) I am hoping I can reduce the price of...

I make small glass sculptures and need an inexpensive colored glass frit.
Stephen from Scotland mentioned the use of enamels to color the glass.
Where can i obtain more information on the use of enamels on glass.

Re: buying glass
I am planning to do small sculpture pieces, not jewellery, so i will be using a fair bit of glass per item.
Can I take clear float glass, coat it with high temperature enamel paint, fire it. and then crush it up to make cheap float glass fritz.
Then use that fritz in a mold, firing it again.

Hi Jen (buttercup)
I am generally based in Brisbane, but I travel around a lot by Caravan.
Currently we in Bathurst NSW enroute to Melbourne to see my grandchildren.
I have been a sculptor for 35 years, and I am drawn to glass fusing as a new medium.
Where are you located?
Regards,
Beau Lyons

Hi Stephen,
I had a look at your web site, very good, a shame i am on the other side of the world.
When you say enamels, can you explain a bit more, what type of store would sell them over here.
regards, beau
