Thanks Greg. I do wonder about how stiff that glass will be for casting at 1550 if the anneal is so high. Does it seem to fill the details okay though? Do you have a pic of the stuff you're casting? It looks like I will have some Lenox soon, so I'll be able to keep casting with that for a while. It'...

This is hard to do verbally. I think I should try to be a little clearer. The metal flange, when I screw it on to the bolt, covers the entire bolt. So, I either have the wrong part & need something else, or I should unscrew the flange and then screw the plastic backing pad/velcro dealy back on. ...

OK, new Felesatti grinder questions
Wahoo! The Felesatti wet grinder just arrived. I love new tools. I do have a quandry, though. I think I might be missing a part, or something....? I have the metal "wheel clutch flange" part that threads onto the head of the grinder. I have a red plastic circular dealy (Do I call it a grin...

Carol, I read your posts on the other board about your new big-_ _ _ kiln, how cool is that? Putting together a 4-foot piece is going to be exciting. I just spent an embarassing amount of time trying to post a photo on the pics part of the board, but I'm going to need some tutoring. I'll let you kno...

Thanks Carol, that's interesting to know about the Bullseye. I'd love it if the glass is really moving around 1550. I am wanting to know about the cullet from Gabbert, I guess they buy from various shops and then resell. The Gaffer you're referring to I've used before, and it is beauuuuutiful. But u...

Gabbert cullet
I don't show the G12 on my price list. Is it the 24% lead cullet listed as FHC? I'm melting Lenox lead crystal at 1550, I just wanted to make sure that would be high enough for this other cullet. Above that point, the molds really start to break down. The nice thing about the low melt point of Lenox...

Anybody cast with Gabbert lead cullet?
Does anyone cast with Gabbert's lead cullet? They say that the COE is 91-ish, and that the anneal temp is around 927.3. So, I have a couple questions. Do you use commercial colors with this cullet? If the anneal temp is 927, where's the melt temp, approximately? Anything else I should know about its...

So, how do you market your work?
Seeing a list of who is lurking here makes me want to chat. So how are you guys selling your work? Are you interested in getting into as many galleries as possible, or do you prefer selling retail through shows? What are you doing to build your exposure?

Does the 80 grit take off material pretty fast?
Okay, to be honest we're really talking laziness now. I have at this point about even brains/money. So I'm interested in taking material off pretty quick on the first pass. I cast stuff, so I'm grinding the feeder gate area after I haven't cut it just perfect, and sometimes the rim of a vessel, stuf...

Angle grinders
Hi Lisa, When Doug Randall showed it in his coldworking workshop, he used it to grind & polish a large flat surface. That's difficult to manage on a wet belt sander, which is better for smaller surfaces like edges. I do some cast panels, I'll be using mine on the backs of those panels. By the wa...

Found the answer in the archive
I found the answer to this question in the archives - Marty says he uses 60, 120, 270 and then a finishing pad. Is that right, Marty?

What grit diamond pads do you use?
For you guys who use diamond flat lap pads, what grit pads do you use? When do you go to pre-polish pads? When do you go to a cerium or pumice polish?
Thanks for the advice.

More sandblaster advice?
As long as I'm getting a feel for the new board, I thought I'd post again. I got some good advice about building a cheap cabinet when I posted on the old board. If I was going to purchase the whole works for sandblasting, what is the smallest unit (size and power-wise) I could get away with, if I ju...
