Jim - Thanks. The odd part, I have another link posted and it works jsut fine. I'll ask TDS about photo sharing. That's a new one on me.

Haven't figured out how to include the image itself in posts.

My cabs are worth every bit of $15 - $20. I just saw some at $50 - $70.

Ignoring the "fancy formula" you're playing the pricing guessing game. At the prices you mentioned, you're probably not even making cost.

Basically I take the risk. I look at it this way. Using a digital machine the info is loaded into that box and stored. Then off shift at the hotel etc you plug it in and upload the transactions. The idea behind the digital machines is card validation. Not having a phone line it is not validating tha...

Good moring Claudia, I went through this exact scenario a few years ago. Couldn't believe the prices they try to get for this stuff, many were $600 or more. One thing to remember, most shows don't have phone lines or they make you pay through the nose to get one. In reality then, you take the card, ...

A bit OT - Some jewelers go to the extent of making their own wire and sheet goods. Seriously. Shot is used for lost wax casting. Gold and silver shot is less money than wire or sheet. Melt the shot, pour into an ingot and run the ingot through a rolling mill. They claim the finished product is less...

IMO - never use flash with this type photography. It'll create hot spots everytime and you'll never get the colors.

I'll have to remember the white card stock trick. Reflected and diffused light make all the difference.

A jeweler passed on this tip to me. I've not tried it but plan too. He uses a white plastic bucket for his photography. Turn it bottom side up, cut a hole for the camera. Place lights around the perimeter.

Sort of like your lamp shade approach. Cheap and easy for small objects.

Photo tents are great. They're also cheap and easy. The light source is controlled. Hot spots are virutally eliminated. You'll get the colors out of your dichro. My tent consists of pvc pipe and heavy white fabric. Halogen lamps clamp where ever I need. Top light, side light, or backlight. And, it a...

Geri couldn't have stated it better. Seems like I regularly encounter new or returning artists who hold themselves back because they don't have recent work, or they just don't have the inventory they'd prefer. Many shows require "recent work" for jury purposes. Unless the object carries a ...

Thanks you two. Kind of thought I might get run off the board showing metal work. Finally bought a digital camera. Will try to get more glass photos posted. Sample photo of my work

First time posting a photo here. Wish me luck.
My work is comprised of fused and or lampworked glass, and precious metals. All glass and metal work is my own.
