Re: Newbie questions....
Hi. I am a newbie... I ordered a kiln off ebay. Nothing fancy Cress 11X11X9 with a kiln sitter- should be here next week. I have been a stained glasser for years and have just recently ventured in glass tile design. I hope to create fused glass tiles to accent and compliment my tile designs I have ...

Well, you only need to drill 15 holes with the more expensive bit and you have paid for it.

Re: Glassline Paper - need advice about hold time
Lori, if you read the document in full, you will see that 516C is still the recommended annealing soak up to and including nine mm. 482C is recommended for thick slabs to save time. Because of the longer soak time at the lower soak temperature, no time is saved for nine mm or less

Re: How the heck do I read the measurements on a circle cutt
An alternative with the silberschnitt is to. Mark a cross at the centre of your circle. Measure your radius and mark it at one point on the glass (measured from the centre of the cross). Place the four marks on the central pivot part of the cutter, use the suction cup to secure. Then extend the cutt...

Re: Decorative plates
Wissmach 90 and Bullseye are not very likely to be compatible. You need to test them for compatibility before combining them in a piece. The Coe number does not tell you anything about compatibility. Coe number is not a shorthand for compatibility. It is no wonder that people have difficulty when bo...

Havi,
Pleas post you're schedules in Celsius. There is a conversion too at the top of the page that every one can use. I do all the Tim to get these pesky F temperatures into something I can understand

Re: Getting rid of devit
I suggest very fine wet and dry sandpaper to get the devit off. Frit and spray often do not stay on the curved edges thickly enough to do the job.

Re: Primer Pulling Away from Shelf
Whenever you go above a low fire polish temperature ther is a chemical change in the kaolin that forms part to the kiln wash. This means it sticks to the glass in the next firing. Yes, you can cover the old kiln wash up after every firing. You will reach a limit where lumps begin to come off. If you...

Re: Uro & Celadon not playing nice
Do you know they are compatible? Did you run a compatibility test before combining them?
You should think of running one now, if you haven't already.

That test will tell you if re-firing will work.

Re: Trouble with a Slump Firing
Mary Kay from bullseye has indicated that some experience there leads them to observe that the centre of the slump is the last to settle. If this is the case, you could try a longer soak. I normally try to get my slump done in 30 minutes. If it takes only 15, I feel my temperature is too high. Remem...

Re: How to polish a casted sculpture
The question of permanentcy has be present in art for a long time. Some artists created work on unstable bases, giving museums great problems of conservation.
