Shelf Paper
I agree with Jerry......I don't like the smell, the contamination in the kiln and the messy cleanup after using thinfire. Kiln wash may be a little more work but it is my preference.

Evenheat lid
Deena I don't see how this is causing you such trouble. The chain holding my lid is exactly as you describe and has never been a problem. Could it be your chain is too long thus causing your lid to open too far causing extra pressure on these screws? My chain just allows my lid to slightly go past t...

I don't believe the greenish yellow Spectrum had anything to do with envioronmental issues in Washington State. That was just the Reds, Oranges and Caramel colours. I'm glad to hear they are going to change back to a purer yellow. Thanks foe the heads up. I do think they should have been more forthc...

Irid glass
Hi Ron........Your irid surface looks quite smooth(no cracks).
I have blasted a design on "96" black irid, then fired it to polish blasted area. Mine always seem to have cracks in final irid exposed surface.
Fuse at 1450 after blasting, Slump at 1260.

Mica/Klyr fire problems
I'm about ready to give up on mica powders. I air brush on many coats of mica/klyr fire then find it hard to peel off my mask and retain a clean edge. The coating is sealed across the edge causing it to lift. tried running knife along edge after spraying, this helped somewhat but was very time consu...

Stains from fruit on glass
I've just noticed stains from Bananas on two large fruit bowls. They were made from Spectrum "96" a doule thick clear base with an opal red and opal yellow design on top. The stain is on the opal surface and will not wash off with dish detergent. It is not a coloured stain just slight mark...
