Re: cut, carved and polished
Yes. For years I have been exploring the idea of your view changing as you move around a piece. I love carving lenses, and adding carvings on the bottom really heightens things

Re: new work
If anyone can tell me what I did wrong, let me know. I went to attachments, and added a file. It showed the file at the bottom but when I preview, all I see is my text. Tried drag/drop as well with the same result. Is there a size issue?

Re: Carbon Steel Mold
I have used steel, as I use steel pipe as molds. I sandblast and then spray on kiln wash while hot. Slump low around 1150 and have no problems.

So, just FYI Oceanside only carries 96 and no billets rocks or plates. Only nuggets or crushed cullet. Anyone buying billets plates or rocks anywhere besides bullseye? Will be buying BE billets, but looking for options.

So, what are you all casting with now, and what are good suppliers? Some of mine have dried up or downsized since losing Uroboros and Spectrum.

Thanks! I hope you were ok through the horrible fires. Being in California I have been through it but you all had it so bad. Thoughts are with you.

Re: kiln shelf
If you are not buying an extruded shelf that has been ground flat, it is a good idea to take a 24" level and inspect them. Most are made so quickly that a lot of them warp. I used to go in person, and sometimes have to sort through 30 to find 1 good one. Don't do it anymore as I use the extrude...

Re: what to do about new kiln
After having worked in China setting up a studio I can speak first hand at the difficulty. Almost impossible to buy unseen as they use western photos to show what you think you are ordering. There are good products and materials out there, but you have to go to them in person to be sure of what you ...

Re: Adhesive Question
Better off with Loctite Hysol E-30cl. Uses a gun with mixing tube, so no guessing or mess. Made specifically to work with glass and metal. I have hung 21" round pieces 3/4" thick with just a dime size spot of glue on my hanger. 24 hour cure. All others mentioned I have tried and eventually...
