Any recommendations for suction cups for fused, not flat, glass? Those larger ones don't work for my glass.
Looking for inexpensive ones that do lift non-flat glass, perhaps on Amazon, etc.
Thanks,Bonnie

Re: sandblasting dissipate?
I decided to slump, then sandblast. I did not want the slumping to minimize the frost, so waited till that was done. We had to do a quick blast outside in frigid temps for that, though!

Re: sandblasting dissipate?
Thanks for all that info. very helpful. I opted to slump, then blast. Unfortunately, I blast outside, and now it will be frigid temps now for a while ( it is zero right now).. so have to hold off on the blasting. In reading your post, I see I could have blasted flat, and then slumped, as I only went...

Re: sandblasting dissipate?
well, it is for a light sconce, so I need the frosting to be a good one. Maybe I won't risk it, and blast later.
Thanks you.
Thanks you.

sandblasting dissipate?
Hi all,
I usually sandblast the back of my glass as last step. But this time I may need to blast prior to slumping, which happens at 1150 degrees. Can I assume that the blasting I did will remain in tact when I slump at that temp?
Thanks!
Bonnie

Twin Cities/ Western WI fusers?
To Mpls/ St. Paul/ western WI and area fusers: I am looking for other fusers/stained glass artists wanting to order sheet glass. Since our local distributor is closing, I am thinking of getting a shipment from (i.e.) Ed Hoy in Chicago. It gets prohibitive to order just for myself, so is there anyone...

schedule issue-did I screw up?
Big whoops- Final fuse of a 5/16" thick 20" round piece. I altered my schedule for a slow bubble squeeze. by doing that, since my controller only allows 8 stages, I had to leave the last anneal at at 700 degrees for 10 minute hold, Intending to check it later, and add on the final ramp dow...

Re: Fractures appeared!
Thank you, Lynn!
Yes, alot of years of trials and failures to get consistent positive outcomes. That is why changing gears would be so hard.
Glass is amazing when it works! (all of us fusers know this).

Re: Fractures appeared!
I follow strict schedules that I have used for 20 + years, successfully (after a few rough lessons early on). I am not concerned right now if I stick with Oceanside. My glass inventory is too large to not use. And, then there is the learning curve for Bullseye. (hard to think about now that I am so ...

Re: Fractures appeared!
Thank you for all that valuable( and sobering) info., Brad. I would like to think I am working with a manufacturer I can rely on. But I can’t get a person to even talk with at Oceanside. I had good communication with Spectrum. Which leaves a lot of us out in the cold re: technical help, and I need t...

Re: Fractures appeared!
Wow. If that is true, I am in huge trouble. When I heard Spectrum was closing, I bought quite a bit of it, not knowing Oceanside would continue the manufacturing. Why would Spectrum and Oceanside not be compatible? I assumed they were using all the same technology and formulas. And Brad, can you ela...

Fractures appeared!
Hi Fusers, Sad day. I made a beautiful 41' X 25" flat mural: Wissmach 5mm base, and 1-2 layers of Oceanside 96 glasses on top. Slow rise and 6 hours anneal. I've done this size many times, but always with just Spectrum/Oceanside. I did grind down the corners a touch after fusing (diamond bit an...

She said she was artistic, so I had faith in her.
Thanks for the inputs!

Re: Drill bit attachment
Because this is smoothing down the side of 1/4" flat glass, I want it to be super easy for the client. That is why I am sending her a 1" diameter Aanraku grinding bit. Easier to control than a smaller bit. I am suggesting someone spray water on the glass as she grinds it down. (I will make...

Re: Drill bit attachment
Thanks, Andy.
I agree, and was going today to look for a rod or wooden dowel and cut it to use. I am surprised the bit manufacturers don't have such an adapter!

Drill bit attachment
Hi All, A client who is across the country has to trim down a small section on the side of a wall piece I made for her. Is there a way to have an Aanraku bit, which fits on a grinder, work on a hand held drill? There must be an adapter that will fit in her drill and will hold the bit (?) Thanks! Bon...
