Re: Fused Glass Production Supply Shortages

Andy, Can you provide the link to that? I searched again and I still can't find it on Spectrum's web site. I even googled the term, "Spectrum Glass Company uses an array of colorants to manufacture our product line" with no results. Dana W. http://www.spectrumglass.com/stained-glass/Clean...

Re: Fused Glass Production Supply Shortages

Yes, Spectrum is lying low right now... haven't heard a word about those guys, but I bet they are nervous. I figure it will all shake out. Of course, I use only System 96 (though some is URO), and I'm pretty well stocked. I have to order from Denver, so I place one or two large orders a year that a...

Re: Fused Glass Production Supply Shortages

I just got word that Uro has suspended 65% of their product line and trying order anything is going to be iffy at best.

Just make a clay dam around where you want to drill, put in some water and use a core bit.

I thought about that...for the wings but not sure I can do that with the feet as there's very little if any room to overlap them...unless I move the white up just a bit.

Thanks for the reply.

Fill in possible gaps?

I am making this for a business in town. The base is 3mm Sp 96 clear and everything is is on top...all 96. I've cut the wings and the feet to fit nicely to the body but am concerned they may pull back a bit during firing. I'm just wanting to go to a good tack fuse. I was thinking of putting some of ...

Re: Coe 96

I've had not straight out of the kiln but some time later major cracking where Spectrum non system 96 touched each other. The idea that the glass is from the one manufacturer so it won't matter is flawed. The devit is the least of the problems. One must not forget the issues Bullseye went through w...

I've had pretty good success with non-fusible spectrum. the streakies and wispys usually will divit but I've found that capping them in clear eliminates that.

Re: Intro, tight budget beginner

Uh... yeah. 1) Firing on carpet is a bad idea, and cement backer board will not be enough. Rip out the carpet or fire somewhere else. 2) I love recycled glass. Get window glass and some low-fire glazes (like the stuff they sell at the Glaze-It-Yourself pottery shops) and start experimenting. 3) Onc...
