Thanks for all the advice. I have already replaced anything she was the least bit dissatisfied with and still have a very happy customer. My next order I may get the sterling silver rings. I have used the split rings without soldering them and, like Geri, they have caught on things and one time I be...

Jim, The rings I'm using are NOT sterling silver . I believe the package said silver plated. Regarding the solder, it's the same solder I used in my old stained glass days. Personally, the rings look good to me when I've finished cleaning them. I was just wondering if anyone had a better solution. I...

I fuse a lot of fish -- double layers of glass, cut on a Taurus. I ALWAYS paint the edges before firing to avoid the "white" look.

[quote="Geri Comstock"]Yep! If you have a Dremel or Flexshaft, use a tiny muslin buff with a little bit of rouge on it to touch them up. Geri, I do have the Dremel with Flexshaft. I don't want to appear completely stupid, but do you buy the "tiny muslin" for buffing or is ...

Soldering Jump Rings

I've been making lots of dichroic pendants lately and have been drilling a hole in the top and putting a silver plated jump ring in the hole for a chain. My arthritic hands will not permit me to even attempt wrapping so this is, I feel, my only solution. I'm using 60-40 solder and cleaning the jump ...

Eleanor,

I have never cut a circle from the System 96 DT, but I do cut straight lines with no problem.

Several months ago, Bert suggested placing a dowel pin under your score line then applying pressure on both sides of the glass. This is the method I've used with success.

I second the motion to fire everything once. I started about a month ago working with dichro. I began with a pound of scrap from CBS, but a couple of weeks ago I ordered several quarter sheets from my art glass supplier. I too place my dichro pieces on a solid color base (and sometimes a clear base)...

Gerry,

I use watered-down white glue from Dollar General Store when I'm working with opaque glass. However, if I'm working with Baroque or dichro glass I use Fusemasters.

Whatever glue you decide to use, be sure to vent your kiln to about 1000 degrees.

Ann, Dee is correct regarding the light dome. We bought the EZ Up because we were burning up in the hot sun. However, the cheap one we bought is NOT waterproof  Therefore, when we had heavy dew we would find lot of drops of water inside the tent. And God forbid it would rain. I don't do...

Linda, I could be wrong, and if I am I'm sure someone will correct me, but I believe I read in my Taurus booklet that the saw is designed to cut only one layer of glass. I do a lot of fish using two layers of glass. I cut each layer separately. However, my very first saw (God it was awful!!) ...

Joan,

I have used the Uro murini mold many, many times and love it.

I use the mosiac nippers to cut the little bars. I usually decorate the edges of bowls, etc with the little pieces. I try to cut them in equal proportions so they flatten properly.

Enjoy your mold.

Billie, I love my Taurus. My husband probably doesn't like it at all. Every time something goes wrong he has to fix it. You soon learn little sounds that alert you that something isn't quite right. Keeping your ears tuned will save you lots of broken blades. I've had mine about a year now and have b...

Janus, Float is rather inexpensive for experimenting. Also, I get "T" glass when Spectrum has it available. It's not cheap, but it's less expensive than their non "T" glass. The Spectrum Baroque glasses can be fused to clear Spectrum 96. I do hundreds of fish with the Baroque gla...
