Drop out firing schedule
First time trying a drop out. I have a 15 in x1/2 disk over a 8in hole. Any suggestions for a firing schedule. I’ll be watching the drop to stop at 8in.

Re: Cracking during slump
I had to shrink the photos to get them down to the permitted size. Brad, all previous firings in the same mold height ect. Worked. Everything is the same state that previously slumped properly. Thats the mystery. The shelf placement, mold, schedule all worked before. In this kiln I’ve fired dozens o...

Re: Cracking during slump
The mold was a shallow bowl 18x3 bullseye. For some unknown reason I cannot post a pic to this site. The inside edges of the cracks are not that sharp, the side facing the mold has sharp edges. It did not crack at element lines but across all.

The piece cracked on heatup ( edges were not sharp) from edge to edge in the ...

Multiple high hest firings
Does anyone know if firing multiple times (5-7) at 1600 and higher makes the glass unstable?

Kiln electrical question
My current set up is a 240 volt line with 2 30 amp fuses. I guess that means the circuit is 60 amps. My new Olympic calls for a 45 amp. fuse. My question is can I safely run the new kiln on the 60 amp or do I need to install a 45amp fuse? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Straight lines
My 2 cents. The glass facing the shelf will stay the way you made it, It does what you tell it to do. The glass facing the inside of the kiln will do what it wants to. As different colors melt at slightly different temperatures the glass "moves" as it melts. One color moving over another c...
