Re: Sandblaster dust collector
Thanks! I will look into it. I bought the cyclone/bucket that works with the vacuum but it did not work for me.

Sandblaster dust collector
Does anyone have a recommendation for a dust collector for a sandblaster? I use a HF siphon cabinet. Thanks!

Re: Respirator storage
Get a ziplock bag for a respirator. Particulate cartridges ("pink") just need to be kept clean for sanitation reasons. If you have a chemical cartridge (usually black for organic vapor), it is very important to keep it in a seal bag as the activated charcoal in the cartridge will readily p...

P95 oil-proof - 95% efficient for particles ≥0.3 microns (µm) P100 oil-proof - 99.7% efficient for particles ≥0.3 microns (µm) As you can see, there is not much difference between P95 and P100. P100's are mainly for asbestos. The downside is breathing resistance is much higher in a P100, making you ...

Love this! Stellar job! I would be proud to display that award... There were lots of Andie MacDowell "sightings" when she was in Woodstock, IL filming Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. I lived in Woodstock at the time and watched several scenes being filmed. A friend of mine was an extra in...

Re: Studio set up for plaster silica
Do you use a separate room for mixing plaster silica? I'm concerned about the plume of dust created when it is scooped and mixed? What are your solutions? What is acceptable ventilation? Yes I always wear my respirator! I am just worried about being in my studio working after mixing and cleanup has...

Delphi Glass Catalog
I received the latest Delphi Glass catalog. Never bought from them but I though I'd take a look. Imagine my surprise when I got to page 18 and say a photograph of a piece of my glass art "Jonkonnu." No credits, no permission asked or given. Interesting point is several years ago this same ...

Re: Fire Polish 2.0 / Matte Finish
Since the flaw is on the rim, I would think you could re-cold work it, put it back in the mold and run your same slump program again. Similar but different from Greg's question! I have a 2 layer fully fused and slumped 16"x 3" deep bowl (Bullseye mold and glass). I had a great finish going...

Re: Fire Polishing
The hold at 1175 is to complete the slump. I'm trying to avoid damning because that means I have to cold work again. Thanks for the good advice! Greg, I wouldn't exceed 150F/h in the initial ramp. Don't see a need for a hold at 1175. Like Charlie, not sure 1275 will do it from a sandblast finish. I'...

Fire Polishing
I have finished a piece - 1/2" thick, 16" diameter. Bullseye glass. During cold working the piece I scratched it pretty bad so I need to fire polish. I want the piece shiny vs matte and I don't want to cold work it again! It is ready for slump. Suggestions? I'm thinking that I sandblast it...
