Re: velvet etch

]I feel that the determining factor of crispness of etch on dichro (as animallover seems to want) is the masking accuracy, not the method of etch. Using a photo process creates highly accurate results and ultra crisp lines.
These were created using Armour Etch.

Re: velvet etch

If you are using an etch to etch dichro on a pendant, it will not work on fired dichro. I use a lot of Armour etching creme but I would not use it to etch glass for a frosted effect. The etching is too inconsistent to get the frosted finish. I have little experience with the other cremes. If you wis...

Re: Drill bit opinions?

The concept of starting at an angle is really for hand drilled small holes using a flexshaft or dremmel. This is done to prevent the bit from walking across the glass. It is not foolproof and only works a percentage of the time. To overcome this we use a ball bit for a starter hole and then drill wi...

Re: Drill bit opinions?

I'm another Harbor Freight junky (some of it can be junk, but the cheapo drill press is not). I got mine several years ago on special for $39.99. Now their on special price is either 49.99 or 59.99. For Drill bits, try ebay seller LAU***. Yep that is their name. I by my small bits from them and they...

Re: Can't find the photo fusing posts ...

We use a lot of that paper and fire in our small kiln (8x8) to 1410 on clear glass. Schedule is 0-1410 as fast a possible, hold 10...done. Note this is for 1 layer 2x2 pieces. In our large kiln we go to 1350, hold 10...done. I find it curious that they indicate a max of 1350. In our experience, if y...

Re: Square/Squareup Credit Card processing

Most interesting quote from their web site: "The Square Card Reader and Square Register apps require an internet connection at all times to function properly. This can be either in the form of a WiFi connection or a data service on your phone (such as 3G, 4G or EDGE). For security reasons, ther...

Re: Square/Squareup Credit Card processing

Terry,
You can use the knuckle buster to get the credit card imprint and then go home and manually enter the CC # into your square account.
I would never do a show and require check or cash. Most people don't carry much of either.

Re: Firing 90 Coe Bullseye with 90 Coe Wissmach

Went to their site and can't find any technical information about firing schedules and such. BarryK is there with a PDF testimonial saying it's the best glass he's ever used, so maybe he can chime in with a suggested schedule or three. It does sound as if you trapped a bunch of air that blew out pr...

Nina was on the right track with the Bruce Baker comment. Get his tapes. I think everyone has missed the point here. "Pretty", "interesting" , or whatever they say, the important thing is that they said something!!!!!! That gives the artist the opportunity to converse with the (w...

I guarantee you there are type K thermocouples for sale in your town. Look them up on the internet and you will find several Mfrs or importers. Call them. they will direct you to a local distributor.
