Re: High Temp wire for fusing in bottles
Can anyone tell me what type of wire and gauge I need to use in the neck of bottles while slumpying? I have used 20 gauge copper from craft stores and it flakes, turns black and isn't strong enough to hold the bottle weight. Any suggestions on where to purchase necessary wire? Thanks, Susan Nichrom...

Re: Door insert thickness?
this is all good info but i wonder why anybody would worry about code when changing out the glass in their own door? even if it were new construction i would just wait untill i had my c.o. and do whatever i wanted to with my door. rosanna If you did that and put in any other type glass and say some...

Re: Door insert thickness?
I would recommend having your fused panel sealed in an insulated glass unit. I believe building codes will require both sides to be tempered. If it were my fused glass panel, I'd want it protected from all the things that can happen to a door light, inside and outside. That will work, but there are...

Old Grinder
I bought out a studio last week and in all the stuff was an old Inland Wizard grinder. It was made in 1982 and was the first to have a plastic ribbed work surface. this grinder is like new and runs like a champ. Also included was the straight edge guide.
Of course I'm keeping it!

Re: Wizard Grinder Bearing going
Hi Jeanne- I would shop around for the motor. Depending on the grinder, the motor may cost more than buying a new one (especially if you go to Grainger.) Not sure of which grinder you had, but I saw this on the Central Jersey CL a couple of days ago. Can't tell the model in the photo, but you never...

Re: Wizard Grinder Bearing going
Pretty sure a bearing is going in my grinder. It's out of warranty and I'm going to get another (it's about 8 years old) but was wondering if anyone has ever attempted to refurbish the motor themselves? Pretty sure Inland will sell you another motor or you might be able order one from Grainger. The...

I can drill a hole in a wine bottle in less than a minute with a drill press and the bottle submerged in water in a big plastic tub.

Re: Slumping Textured Glass?
I have a ton of offcut textures as well and the main problem I've been having when trying to slump is that the edges don't come out smooth enough for my liking. The textures pretty much go away at higher temps...can't figure out the right temp to be to keep the texture and still have nice polished ...
