I think I saw this discussed but can't find it in the archives. I'm wanting it to be approx 10 inch square with a 4 inch drop. Also, what kind of firing schedul...

Normally, I'm able to cut the pieces with a glass cutter and breaking pliers. I then use the grinder to round out or refine the shape. I have a Gryphon that I use for larger pieces and I love it.

square slumping mold

I need to make a square serving bowl approx 10-12 inches across and so far haven't found a source. I'm wondering if it would slump into that size square bowl or whether it would need to be a drop out mold. Any help or sources would be appreciated. Linda

combing problem

I watched Patty Gray's demo of how she does her combing. I made combing tools according to her instruction. I'm having problems inthat they almost always stick on the lst pull and they bend as they aren't sturdy enough. I'm taking the glass to 1700. Any suggestions on tools used to pull the molten g...

gold and silver foils

I am wanting to get an email address for Olympic Color rods. I think that is the name of the company that sells gold and silver foils. I haven't been able to find their address. Thanks Linda

I saw this at a glass show and Spectrum people told me it wasn't meant for kiln work and the metalic surface would burn off. I didn't get any because of what they said. Linda

wine bottle bubble

I recently fired two wine bottles, 2 different firings. I had the same type bubble at exactly the same place in both bottles. I fired 600 to 1200, held 30 mins, fast to 1500 on one and 750 to 1500 on the other firing. Any suggestions? Linda

borax on edges of cabs

What is the reason for the borax? Are you talking about the stuff you use for laundry? Linda

Bert--stretching gold foil

What do you think would happen if the glass was taken to say, 1550 to 1600 degrees, and the glass manipulated like you do when combing? Do you think the gold would burn out? I'd try it, but don't want to waste a piece of gold foil. Thanks Linda

stretching gold foil

Bert, you mentioned pulling the glass with the gold foil sandwiched. At what temp did you do this? I was curious as there was much discussion regarding it burning out or was that just leaf. Thanks Linda

90 coe small frit on float

I am making some fish and have a limited amt of 90 coe glass onhand. I was wondering if I'd have lots of problems if I used BE frit on float. There are 2 layers 1/8" each and a maximum length of 10-12 inches. The frit would be on the top layer. I'd appreciate any information. Thanks Linda

I haven't tried this myself but saw another student's work at a workshop and she had successfully fused a CZ into glass with no breakage. They come in various colors. Linda

If you fire a larger piece and place the dichro on it, fire then cut out the small cabs from the areas of the glass that you like. Working so small is harder than doing it this way. Linda

You mentioned not wanting to use Lime Away, however it's probably the easiest way to clean them up. Pour it over all cabs, let set for awhile then wearing rubber gloves, you can pick up each one and using your thumb just wipe off all the kiln wash. Linda

Irid won't stick to dichroic unless you sandblast off the edges of both so they have a surface to fuse against. They "repel" each other. Linda
