Mira,
Pearl Ex is in the paint department. It's sort of a square box with a clear window showing 12 small bottles of different colors of powders. Look in the area for painting on glass.

Kim/Teresa, The heron was cut from sheet copper. You can order it by the roll from Nimrod Hall on line in various widths. Any decoration where decopauge is applied should not be put in the dishwasher. I had a customer do that and the chart came off. Actually, it was my customer's husband. When I use...

Hi Theresa, The pictures (lighthouses, etc.) are decopauged to the back of the bottles. The chart platter with Charlotte Harbor on it is my most popular item. Many people poo poo the firing of bottles but they are my bread and butter. They pay for my glass addiction. When the glass is free and peopl...

Hi Carolyn, I did use the 2 mil copper this time and sprayed it with the Borax solution. I have a bowl which I'll be taking out of the kiln this morning which is also done with the 2 mil copper. On this particular bowl I took Tom in Texas' advice and put Unique's clear glaze on it. It took on a whol...

Pearl Ex micas are powders you can purchase at Michael's. There are 12 small bottles of different colors in the box. They can be applied dry or mixed with a tiny bit of alcohol and fuser's glue. A couple of the bowls I did were accented with Pearl Ex powders. As I recall, I just used a sifter to app...

Jeremy, Your pendants are beautiful. One little helpful hint on keeping your glass together -- When I'm making earrings I am totally anal on making each a mirror image of the other so it's imperative that the glass stays put. Here's what I do. I lay out my base with a drop of fuser's glue then I add...

While we're on the subject of pot melts, I'm wondering what happens if you had a previous boo boo like thermal shock and you just shut the kiln off knowing your glass has split. You did not continue the full cycle, i.e. annealing the piece. Now what happens if you put portions of that glass (unannea...

I don't think any of those Mickey Mouse contraptions are going to cut the neck of a Grey Goose. This glass is really thick. My only suggestion might be to try a tile saw. Several years ago someone on the board, maybe Charlie, suggested tying a string around the bottom of a bottle; soaking it with li...

I recently had a problem with a pattern bar piece. I had successfully fused the blank but when I slumped it I ran into problems. My first one cracked on the way up. I had the nerve to try the same thing twice. On the second slump I took the advice from the board but this time the disaster was on the...

I agree with Brad. You can do simple slumps and make small pendants and earrings in your kiln. My first kiln was a used glass-firing kiln with no controller. It was probably 15 years old when I bought it. I had lots of fun with this kiln but when I wanted to get into serious  glass I bought a g...

Just took this out of the kiln today. I used the last large piece of copper from Michael's to make this platter. Tom from Texas, I think, advised to use a Scotch Brite pad on the copper first then spray it with the Borax solution. This is what I did with this piece, plus I sifted Pearl Ex powder on ...

I've used the Deco (?) pen with good success. I get them through The Art Glass House. You can get white or black. One time I couldn't find my Deco so I used my Pilot pen. Same thing happened with me. The mark washed away before I could get the blade to it. I tried Vaseline on the mark but hated clea...
