Re: marking glass to be cut with Revolution XT

Sharpie make an oil-based marker. It takes a few minutes to dry. I suspect it will stay onto the glass but I haven't tested it.

Fusing wire between 2 sheets and then slumping

Hello all,

I would like to fuse (sandwich) thin copper wire between 2 sheets of 3mm glass and then slump into a shallow platter shape.

This would be 2 firings.

Will then wire inside the glass slump together with the glass? Or will the glass and wire separate out during the slump?

You can buy it here: http://www.dullesglassandmirror.com/store/glassglue.aspx Here is it's Australian site with demonstration and instructional videos: http://www.nano470.com.au/high-strength-glass-adhesive/...

Fusing silver leaf/foil between glass

Hello All, J.Kenneth Leap has been testing fusing silver leaf/foil between sheets of glass and obtaining transparent yellow results. Look here: http://thepaintedwindow.blogspot.com.au/2010/09/silver-staining-tests-with-pure-silver.html I've read on this board that silver LEAF can completely disappea...

Re: low tech screening

I bought a martha steward silk screen from ebay to play around with it: 20150322_141307.jpg I then mixed some black ferro enamel with A14 until it was a little runny and then added a pinch of cmc powder until it became thick like frosting. I wore a latex glove and pushed the "black frosting&quo...

Re: low tech screening

Thanks Vovon.

I'm surprised the fusemaster enamels wouldn't pass easily through the mesh. I always thought glass enamels were ground extra fine!

Re: low tech screening

Thanks Vonon. Do you think this system would work with Ferro enamels (or similar) plus gum powder or cmc powder?

low tech screening

here's a really neat technique for screening enamels without using a screen frame.

(She's using ceramic overglaze but it should work with glass enamels and perhaps even powder frit).

Any thoughts?

Re: Cutting circle from mullite kiln shelf

I've seen a shelf with a big hole cut out of it on a glass art supplies website.

However I don't recall the site. I will see if I can find the site.

Don, we don't get GE silicone 2 in Australia although there are plently of similar silicones on the market.

Does it have a strong vinegar smell?

Re: Glass Enamel questions

The tin side is an issue only for enamels and frit that contain the precious metals silver or gold. There is silver in silver stain and gold in the purples, violets, purplish pinks, and purplish reds. You will know you have precious metal based enamels and frit because they are really expensive!
