Re: Moving a compressor. Disassemble?

Hi Don, have you sought advice from a local distributor or compressor service technician. The latter can probably give you good advice and save you from possibly having a sale of various used compressor components on eBay. Bon chance!

Hope it works out, Bonnie. Let us know if you decide to firepolish the frosting and if that affects the shape of the slumped piece.

Re: sandblasting dissipate?

Here are some notes I copied from various sites, some from here: SANDBLASTING & CARVING 1. To fire polish sandblasting clear fire to 1400° F. 2. To fire polish and retain the frost fire to 1238° F. http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-81201.html Glass fusing made easy Spectrum u...

Re: Capped silver foil & fuming

Yes,thanks Kevin, I did name the wrong acid. Here's more info from the archives, explaining why a simple sandblast and refire, or etching cream and refire wouldn't have worked: http://warmglass.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=41601 My chosen kiln shelf protection is alumina hydrate so simply dumping it a...

Re: Capped silver foil & fuming

Thanks very much, Brad. I'll just stick to the separate shelf solution. A long time ago, last century at Pilchuck, while taking Painting and Firing with Albin Elskus, an intricate piece on which I'd spent some time became contaminated from silver stain on the kiln shelf. Albin rescued it by masking ...

Re: Capped silver foil & fuming

Hi Brad, reading this thread with interest. Is it just contamination of the shelf one has to worry about or can the kiln become contaminated such that it would damage future firings. I've kept a separate shelf for silver stain in the past. Is that sufficient for silver foil, too? Thank you.

Yes, they did shine. A little bit of good news among all the terrible news. I must admit I didn't watch any of the Games, just the highlights on the evening news.

When do we see a new glass masterpiece, Don? Your audience is waiting. No pressure........

Re: 1/4 inch jaw running pliers

Regarding the rest of your question re: best mechanical equipment for cutting glass, for most shapes, nothing will give you the precision of a freehand cut once you become proficient. If you want to make 'unnatural' cuts, such as a cutting an inside point, possibly a leaf shape, out of a piece of gl...

Re: 1/4 inch jaw running pliers

Hi, are you trying to score the glass using a diamond pencil made for marking lab slides etc? They're not designed for making the score line which then allows you to run the score and snap the glass. If the score line is not continuous the run can veer off and the glass will break in the direction o...

Re: Heatresistent Tape

Jan, this tape is called eFusing tape. It says it is OK to 500F. Whether that is good enough for any kilnwork is doubtful. I know nothing about it other than what I read on the site.

Hi RandiC,

Your question peaked my curiosity as I have a corroded pendant chain which I believe to be a SS.

Here's what I found:
