I was thinking that it might be a good idea for those of us in the calender to donate something to the costs of making it as well. I haven't a clue how expensive it is, but giving away 24 or more copies to those in it is a good chunk, especially if not enough sell to cover costs.

Just a thought. I sent my pic in to Chip today and offered to donate whatever he thought would help. Haven't heard back yet, but I would hate for him to get stuck with covering costs out of his pocket.

Lisa, I was thinking the same thing. I know this is going to end up not being an easy project for Chip to begin with.

When do we find out how much they will cost to buy? Perhaps those of us in the calander who are inclined to do so should just send Chip a check as though we're buying one. Doesn't seem right if he ends up having to spend out of pocket for this venture after being kind enough to put it together. Also, I agree with . . . umm, was it Gale(?), who thought that one dollar over cost didn't seem like much of a bump for the warmglass fund. Maybe when Chip finds out what the cost will be to make them, we can rethink that amount as well?

How fun this is - Hey Lisa, we should contact one another off the board since we're sharing a month - would hate to wear the same outfit or something!

I would propose that the calendar cost $15 to purchase. People could preorder them so the edition can be sized for printing accordingly. Maybe a $20 cost for post production ones.

If people prepay, Chip has no out of pocket expenses. The scholarship fund can grow.

I would guess that there is a way to have it printed on demand for a few bucks so it could be ordered down the road. While it might cost more, those expenses can be included in the upprice.

I am guessing that Chip has his own place in mind for printing these things up, however this link may help if he doesn't. When you look at the price for 50 or more pieces it goes down quite a bit:

I know the quality is good because I've ordered "snapbooks" and pictures from them many times.

Okay, I need the pictures. Mail them or email them to chipe@pobox.com

Then can be portrait or landscape. No rules as to what you are wearing or not wearing, as long as you are doing cold work.

As far as cost goes, well, here is what I came up with:

It is a 15 month calendar. I am going to try to do this "in house." Nothing really fancy. I propose:

1. To make 100 calendars.
2. I will print up the pictures (after "tweaking" and positioning for 8.5x11" paper) on high gloss photo paper with my HP Photo Printer.
3. Using MS Publisher I will print out the months of the calendar
4. I will "fuse" them together in a 3 or 4mm laminate
5. I will then put a plastic spine in them
6. I will then mail them out to the participants

This should not cost all that much. The photo paper, laminate, ink and regular paper I can get wholesale. The spines I can get for free. And my teenage daughter said she "really needed a project to do to make some money, Dad!", so I will have her doing the laminating and collating.

I also have acess to 2 more excellent HP photo printers to speed up the process. The only "delay" I can anticipate is the laminating, but again, I have access to 2 heavy duty machines. So, there you have it!

Reread the rules that Brad put in the first message in this thread.

GET ME THE PICTURES FOLKS!! :D

Help! I'm confused again.

Is this a new rule that we have to be doing coldworking or did I miss it the first time among the thousands of posts?

Gale and I have the BEST idea for something that's not coldworking for our picture. It would be such a shame to waste such a great idea. *evil smirk*

Work? We have to be working?? I was going to have my photog get a shot of me on my favorite boom lift. Don't we have until January 20th to send the pics? Also, shouldn't we be putting in our reservations so that Chip has some idea of how many calendars will have to be made? Okay, I get dibs on Calendar #25!
