kinl venting?

..just to ask...what means "kinl venting"?

Hi Mike from Italy,

When I refer to "venting my kiln" this means I'm either placing a small brick or kiln post under the lid to let fumes (glue, paint, super spray, etc.) out of the kiln. I usually vent to about 1000 degrees F. There are also some fiber papers that need to have the fumes vented when you're firing the binder out of them.

Hope this helps explain the phrase.

My kiln has six holes on the side that can be opened up to let the heat leave faster. These holes are also called vents.

I also have two small holes drilled in the back of my kiln with hoses connected to it that run to a fan that "vents" the fumes through my wall, to the outside so I do not have to smell all the fumes.

Mike,

Maybe more simply put is you're either letting air in your kiln, by what ever manner you wish, or you're letting fumes escape you kiln.
