Skutt kiln lids problem with dropping pins

Post by Val Eibner »

Followed up on some kiln information threads re: Pros and cons on kiln makes; and there was an annoying problem with the Skutt 1414 lid with pins dropping out during firing. Is this still a problem, because that is one of the kilns that I am looking at to buy. I have an oval ceramic kiln from Seattle Potter S. that I have used for 14 years with little or no problems then the normal wear. Do they make a good kiln? Does anyone out there have one to share with me their pros and cons on the crucible kiln. Thanks, Val
