hardner

Post by mikefromitaly »

hello friends
much time ago a friend said me this following reply about hardnering :........

I think what you are asking is: Do you prefire the paper before you put hardener on it?

The answer to that question is no. You soak the paper in hardener, let it air dry (or dry it in your kiln at about 90 C). If you want to sand the dry paper you can, then add more hardener to the areas made soft by sanding.

Once it is dry you can fire it to 700 C to harden it. Be sure to vent your kiln for both drying and hardening firings since you will be burning off water and binders.

HE WHAT MEANS "to sand"?
why sand, what reason?i do not kno what is "sand"
please help me to understand

any help will be appreciate

sandpaper? abrade?

if there are rough spots, use a fine-grained sandpaper (don't know the italian equivalent) to smooth it. You want a very smooth surface.
