Replacing Glass for peep hole

Post by Bonnie Rubinstein »

Hi fusers, the glass lens for the peep hole in my kiln is worn and blurry. I successfully removed it from the fire brick holding it. It is 3" square quartz, 1/4" thick. I don't know how to replace it, as the manufacturer has stopped making this kiln. (L and L). So, they don't have parts. Any thoughts as to where I ca get a replacement? Thanks!

Replace it with a brick. Kiln brick is soft enough that you could carve to ship and place in the hole where the quartz glass was.

If you absolutely have to have the quartz window (not sure why!), there are companies that can cut you a piece to size. Try https://technicalglass.com/product_page ... tes_discs/ or Google for others.

Hi Brad,
Thanks! I see they do have the size I need- that was very useful info!

I have the brick, I just need to slide the right sized glass into the slot for it. I need to watch the progress of the fuse, and the glass makes it easier..
